Independent, Songshan hotels

Songshan is a district in the eastern part of Taipei. It is home to the Taipei Arena, which is one of the largest stadiums in Taiwan, and not to mention Songshan Airport. There are plenty of interesting attractions located inside this district, in addition to restaurants and shopping facilities. Access to this neighbourhood is best done via the Neihu Line of the Taipei Metro.

Dedicated to the Mazu goddess, the Ciyou Temple is a gorgeous religious structure that was built in 1753. The temple is exceptionally beautiful, especially after the sun goes down. From Songshan Station, this site is just a short walk to the north. While visiting, tourists are advised to adhere to the strict etiquette of the temple.

Another popular landmark within Songshan is the Raohe Street Night Market. Each night, this old market place welcomes many thousands of shoppers and diners who flock here to enjoy its cultural extravagance. Raohe Street Night Market is about 600 metres in length, making it one of the longest night markets in Taiwan. It is only a short distance from Ciyou Temple, so visitors can easily see both landmarks in one fun-filled evening.

Tourists will find a range of restaurants in the district of Songshan. The modern hotels are home to some brilliant dining options which offer both Chinese and international cuisine. Throughout the streets of Songshan, there are dining options from Japanese, to Italian, French and other Western restaurants. There are also a number of cafés inside the district which provide the ideal spots for a relaxing coffee break. For those tourists who enjoy a few drinks in the evening, Songshan has great bars and lounges, in addition to some fun clubs.

Shopping is best done at the Living Mall, which is a major department store. Even though the malls of Daan district are most renowned, this beautifully-designed shopping centre has a great range of retail stores and entertainment facilities. The Raohe Street Market is home to great bargains, and shouldn’t be missed.
