“Wonderful hotel.”
We weren't certain what to expect from a hotel that used to be a bordello, but it was only for one night and the reviews were good, why not? It turned out to be a great choice. Charming and elegant are the words that come to mind. If you go, be sure to visit the Catacombs Pub (I think that's how it's spelled) in the basement. Wonderful food and drink. Yes, we will go back.
“Who needs the davenport”
Great. Just wonderful
“Old time Spokane”
Wonderful hotel with old architecture. Great food. One window stuck (old wood frames) leaving a slight gap at the bottom allowing cold air in (got to 26 degrees that night) and one light bulb burnt out. The rooms are spacious, but there is an open central area on the 2nd and 3rd floors that would be great for family reunions or small business gatherings. In addition to the restaurant in the hotel, there are good ones within a few blocks walking distance.
“Nice boutique hotel”
We were desperate for a place to stay last minute in Spokane, Washington, and this looked to be a very nice hotel online with an underground bar. Needless to say, the hotel description does not give this hotel justice. The Montvale is located in a historic building, which adds a lot of charm, but at the same time it is modern and chic. The rooms were well-adorned and large, and we loved the bar underground called the Catacombs. We wish we hadn't have eaten, because the restaurant looked to be filled with nonhotel reservation-holding patrons, which seemed to be a good sign. It was packed, and had a well-written local review. The continental breakfast was very very good, and very relaxing, as you eat in an atrium area that is adorned with beautiful paintings, wood furniture, couches, and the like. My only wish would be to transport it to California, where we live!
“Historic and stylish, very pleasant”
Nice building, nice people, better than expected
“Pleasant Surprise”
The hotel lobby has an old world charm when you walk up to the registration desk. Once off the elevator, you walk into a beautiful lobby area with a comfortable setting. The rooms were newly decorated and clean. What a pleasant surprise.
“Great place to stay”
We always look for a place that feels like home. The Montvale truly is homey and comfortable. Why travel if you can't feel as good as you do at your own home?! Enjoyed the huge doors and windows, the bed was very comfortable! We will be back.
“great hotel with character”
excellent location; great comfortable rooms; would return in a heartbeat
“Spokane's little secret!”
Great boutique hotel, reasonable rates, convenient location, very helpful staff. Rooms can use stronger light bulbs! A bit of street noise can be heard in some of the rooms. Breakfast bar can be improved ( more fruit, more bread/bagel choices, fewer sweets). Overall, a wonderful stay!
“Impressive”
This is a charming boutique hotel.
