Florida is so perfectly suited for golf that Tiger Woods built a home on Jupiter Island with a four-hole practice facility. You probably can’t play there, but you can find nearly 1,400 courses across the state. Try inexpensive public courses or top-of-the-line Streamsong. Splurge for the famous TPC at Sawgrass with its challenging island green.
Visit Florida’s three national parks. Biscayne has mangroves, the Florida Keys and coral reefs with manatee, crocodiles, sea turtles and peregrine falcons. Take a boat to Dry Tortugas to see a Civil War fort and shipwrecks. The Everglades is a vast wilderness with more than 30 protected species in its mangrove ecosystem.
Florida has cultural attractions too. The Miami Museum of Contemporary Art is an exciting and growing attraction with studio art and performance art. Also in Miami, you’ll find several zoos and wildlife areas, over 20 museums, professional teams in five sports and numerous Spanish-language events and attractions.
