I have stayed at the Royal many times over the last decade: This was another long stay and so when I arrived I checked out BBC 1 TV channel (there was some sport I wanted to catch). It was not working correctly (very pixelated) I asked reception staff if this was just a fault in my room or not available in any room. The response was less than helpful. i was told a check on other rooms would be made and I could move rooms if. one was available with functioning TV. The staff did not get back to me on this. When I phoned again 2 days later I was told the hotel did not subscribe to BBC so no rooms had the channel. Later the same day when I tried BBC 1 and 2 they both worked perfectly. For the rest of the stay the channels worked erratically (the rain seemed to affect the quality) so it appears I was misled about this by the staff: I was not impressed by this lack of attention to detail and lack of responsiveness to a customers wishes. I will not be staying at the Royal again.
