Pak Kret

Travel Guide
Ko Kret Island featuring food and street scenes
You did it: you booked a trip to Thailand. Now what? Rest easy, mate—we’ve got you covered.

For a truly unique expedition, head for the northeastern section of Nonthaburi Province to Pak Kret. Located just north of the famous Bangkok and home to both the peaceful Ko Koret Island and numerous small parks and gardens, Pak Kret is the perfect place to stay when you’re ready to unwind during a visit to the big city. Check out our great selections for Pak Kret deals and enjoy the Far East.

Things to Do in Pak Kret

Kick off your Pak Kret holiday by jumping on a ferry and taking a trip up the Chao Phraya River. The ferry will pause at the island of Ko Kret, a manmade isle constructed way back in the 1700s. Wander around the five different wats, mingle with locals at the weekend markets, and buy some of the island’s famous pottery to liven up your cabinets (or, y’know, to share with your co-workers). Don’t forget to go for a long walk through the Kret Buddha Garden.

After enjoying your time on Ko Kret, take a longboat tour through the city’s crisscrossing khlongs – that’s a canal, for those of us who don’t speak Thai. Pak Kret holidays are all about exploring, and you’ll be able to explore hidden parts of both Pak Kret and Bangkok while weaving in and out of floating markets and villages.

Shopping, Dining & Nightlife

For the all-important souvenir purchasing, we recommend heading a few kilometres south to Bangkok—it’s got heaps of shopping options, from major commercial malls to back alley markets. Bought too much to carry? Book one of our Pak Kret car hire deals and make sure you’ve got boot space for all your bags. Then drive over to the mixed-use complex of Terminal 21 on Sukhumvit Road. The retail section contains six themed floors for you to go wild in. Find the latest styles in London on level three, then let your hippie flag fly in San Francisco on level four.

We hope you have an appetite, because it’s hard to enjoy Bangkok holidays without eating delicious food. The Rattanakosin District is littered with classy sit-down restaurants, street food carts and back alley gems just waiting to be discovered. Where else can you get a plate of chicken satay and yam wunsen kung with a side of fried insects? Eat your protein!

Pak Kret packages aren’t complete without at least sticking a toe into the local nightlife. Feel like getting into some shenanigans? Head back to Bangkok and take your pick from one of the clubs up and down Royal City Avenue. Maybe the seedy club scene isn’t your thing and if that’s the case, Sukhumvit Soi 11 is where you want to be. This place has transformed from dirty bars with dirtier shows to classy rooftop joints where the city’s young elite have begun to migrate.

Nice hotel with great staff
"Staff were excellent all around. Service in the room can be improved with slight changes. Toiletries were for a 1 person whereas we were a couple. Small thing but it can be avoided to get the 5 stars. Room was very nice but slight smell of mould."
