The Shanghai Museum of Contemporary art is a futuristic glass building providing an interactive introduction to the world of modern art.

In the centre of the People’s Park in downtown Shanghai, you’ll find a striking glass building which houses Shanghai’s Museum of Contemporary Art. This former Greenhouse has been remodelled to create a polished modern gallery, dedicated to promoting the latest art and design from China and around the world.Spread over two floors connected by a gleaming steel ramp, the Museum has more than 1,800 square metres of exhibition space dedicated to an ever-changing programme of temporary displays. Daylight streams in from the glass windows to create a bright and airy atmosphere which showcases the sculptures, paintings and installations at their very best.Head up to the third floor for cocktails and canapés in the Art Lab, an interactive bar and restaurant dedicated to bringing art to life. Enjoy the very best of painting, sculpture, music and cuisine in this spectacular space, which offers panoramic views across the city.Tours, lectures and art classes provide added insight and intuition to the exhibits, with artists, critics and art historians giving their own views on the works on show. It is centrally located and easy to reach by bus or rail. Discounted tickets are available for senior citizens, students and larger groups of people so make sure you bring some ID with you and call in advance if there are a few people going together as a group.
