“Great place to stay in Tavira”
A great, if somewhat bland hotel. Location is fantastic, just a short stroll into the village. Avoid the overpriced pool bar and avoid the 2.50euro cost of coffee and walk the 60 yards to the bakery down the hill for 0.75cent coffee.
“Lovely Hotel”
I stayed at the Hotel Porta Nova the first week in February and although they were doing some renovation work in the lobby, you would not even know they were doing it! The staff were polite and friendly, the room was lovely and food was great. A big selection at breakfast and dinner, although we at out most nights. On the last night we ate at the restaurant Quatro Aguas, and got a 10% discount as we were staying in the Hotel Porta Nova, which was a bonus. Would definitly recommend this hotel
“Nova Park”
A very quiet Hotel, ideal for couples or the more elderly. Very clean and tidy and spacious rooms. Staff very helpful and friendly.
“Would go back”
We had a lovely room overlooking the pools. The room was clean, tidy and comfortable and the staff were friendly and helpful. We stayed on a B&B basis and the buffet breakfasts were great - lots of choice. Didn't eat in the hotel at night as there were lots of restaurants in the town centre to choose from and it was nice to have a wander around in the evening. The hotel was in quite a good location, a short walk downhill into the centre. I would recommend the little train from the hotel to have a look around. The town is quaint and it is amazing how busy it gets in the centre at 10.30 pm, when there has been no-one around during the (very hot) afternoon! One thing I would say is to be aware that many of the pavements and pedestrian areas in the town are cobbled and quite uneven. They could be a bit slippery. They didn't spoil an excellent 5 day break however and we would certainly go back.
“well satisfied”
centrally placed with good parking facilities and a 200 metre stroll to a variety of good eating places. very likely to book for next year's golf trip.
“Lovely, friendly clean hotel”
We stayed on a B&B basis in a lovely double room on the top floor of the hotel with views over Tavira from our balcony. The breakfast was pretty good with fruits, cold meats, breads, cereals and if you can't stand not to eat English food don't worry they do a fry up! The facilities were pretty good. The health suite for some reason was closed (it didn't say it would open again??). The pool was lovely and the staff were extreamly helpful and friendly. The panoramic bar is fantastic! If the weather is good it's open from 6pm. It's lovely to sit there and have a cold bottle of Sagres and watch the sun go down. The room itself was basic but very clean! We were very pleased with it. If we went back to Tavira we would stay at the Hotel Porto Nova!! Loved it there.
“excellent hotel”
Excelent value for money hotel, friendly staff- all who spoke english. Taveria is very pretty and beach is one of the best in europe. Few problems with the room but as soon as we asked they fixed immediately. Would go back.
“No complaints!”
I stayed at the Porta Nova for 2 weeks at the end of October. The sun was still hot enough for a tan(temp was still in the mid 20's). The hotel is well designed and was excellent value for money, it is situated in very pleasant surroundings-there's a lovely garden pool area at the back with a descent sized pool and a small shallow pool for kids and plenty of sun loungers, the staff were very hard working, attentive and helpful.
“Can,t wait to go back”
Lovely hotel staff helpful.Rooms cleaned thoroughly every day.Pool safe and clean, with quality sun beds.Great position near to restaurants ect.Would stay there again.
“Great holiday”

Area:
Tavira, Portugal: A handsome riverside town, Tavira is famous for its elegant 18th- and 19th-century architecture. Shunning mass tourism, it leaves international-style bars, restaurants and shops to satellite areas such as the beach resort of Cabanas. There are very good local seafood restaurants however. Its medieval castle ruins offer a panoramic view of the town which includes some fine churches. The beaches close by are long, flat and sandy.
