“The Luxer...great!”
Easy to find, just minuets from the central station and that was with walking with our carry on luggage. The hotel really is in the center. steps from everywhere. The lobby is inviting and the room we had was very quiet, very comfortable and very VERY CLEAN. Spotless! There was a hot water pot , tea sugar coffee....it was easy to set to just the right temperature. The beds were cozy and comfortable...we slept like babies. I had seen other places on the internet that were charging more and when we actually were there and passed by them, I knew we had a great deal. The Luxer was cheaper but alot more appealing from street side anyway. I most definately will stay there in the future!
“Great location, well maintained, great price”
The hotel is located a ten minute walk (even with luggage) from the train station close to restaurants and other entertainment. Despite being located so close to the "action" and noisy streets, the hotel is surprisingly quiet. It had a lift so getting to our second floor room in the back of the hotel was easy. We only stayed overnight after traveling from London before heading to Berlin the next morning. I cannot comment on the breakfast that is included in the room because we had to leave early. I wish the free wifi access to the internet had been available in the room and not just in the lobby. The man at reception was very friendly and provided us with a map showing the location of the hotel and other sites.
“Awesome location in the red light district!”
Great hotel on a great and lively street in the red light district. If you want to be close to the action, ie coffee shops, restaurants, Dam square and basically everything else, then thus is a great hotel. Staff at reception were friendly and they keep the front door locked so you just need to ring a doorbell for them to open it for you. I was happy with the security since there were backpackers on the same street. Everything we wanted to see was in walking distance and we really felt like we were in the heart of it all. I would definitely stay here again. Housekeeping comes late, around 2:30 pm and we always seemed to be in our room at that tome. The housekeeping lady was not impressed that my boyfriend was using the bathroom when she wanted to clean the room and seemed annoyed when I told her we would be a few more minutes. That was the only negative really.
“Great location, nice hotel.”
The hotel was just a short walk (10 mins) from Dam Square and was also close to the train station and was on the outskirts of the red light district – so offers a great location. Although in a busy part of town, I was in a room on the third floor and had no problem with noise at all. Although the single room was quite small (but you expect this in Amsterdam anyway!) the hotel was clean and comfortable and staff were very helpful. I would recommend this hotel, and would definitely stay there again.
“best location in amsterdam”
went to the luxer with two mates, found it clean, cheap, and comfortable. its a no frills place with helpfull staff and it has cofee houses on either side, saying that its not seedy at all (to three 40 somethings anyway) i would take the wife there. not sure if my other companions would though! ten minutes slow walk to red light area.staff had the room ready for 1200 and let us leave or luggage till 1500 on departure.good to have three single beds in a room, nice firm mattress, would have been nice to have had a kettle for tea and cofee.i wold use luxer again.
“Great budget hotel!”
Fantastic location less than 5 mins walk from Amsterdam Centraal station. Lots of attractions close by and easy transport options for getting around. The hotel isn't new or modern and the room was rear-facing and quite dark but it was clean, well furnished, comfortable and reasonably-sized. All expected facilities were either in the room or available on request. Basic shower, but couldn't fault the pressure. Very acceptable standard.
“Romantic Setting in the heart of Amsterdam”
My boyfriend and I booked Hotel Luxor for our 2yr aniversary to amsterdam from NYC. The staff was very kind and very hospitable, we arrived on an over night flight and got to the hotel by 5am. The overnight staff unlocked the doors to the hotel and even though he wasn't able to check us in he did offer us some of the best coffee I've ever tasted and free of charge! The hotel room was basic, Tv and lamps, the bed 'looked' like a full but in actuality it was two twin beds pushed together which was find because the hotels had small hallways so i doubt they could fit a large bed. The only issue we had was with the shower, but its because I prefer a very stronger water pressure. Otherwise a nice hotel with really nice staff. I'd recommend it, because it was very comfortable.
“Perfect in its own way”
Whilst not a luxurious experience, my stay at the Luxer was perfect for the circumstances, I have no complaints. The room was small but clean (with the exception of some carpet stains -- to be expected in this basic hotel type). Extra pillows and duvets in the wardrobe, kettle supplied upon request, sufficient number of towels, tissues, toilet paper in the room, everything neat and tidy. My room was quiet enough, although the walls must be a bit thin as noises from the next room, once occupied, were noticeable enough. But one doesn't spend that much time in the room. Wifi in the room was free and worked well during my 2.5 day stay. Downstairs there's a small bar where food is available as well, though I haven't tried it. Eating options in the neighborhood abound, from Burger King to Portuguese Steakhouses. The location is its best selling point for those interested in expanding their consciousness... Just out the door on either side you'll find numerous shops. The redlight district is minutes away, and although I traveled alone, I never felt threatened at any time. I will probably stay there again on my next visit, unless I decide to spend 3-4X for 'basic luxury'.
“Luxer- Great for weekend trip”
The hotel was in a great location, very close to Central Station, Red Light Area, Dam Square, shopping and restaurants. The room was cosy, but perfect for me, the bathroom was lovely and clean, staff were very nice and helpful, a great weekend!
“Winter Storm of 2012”
I had a nice stay here. Staff was friendly and helpful. Room was on the second floor, very quiet. Bed was comfortable and clean, extra blanket in the closet. About what I expected for a 3 star hotel. Perfect location in the heart of Amsterdam. Reasonably priced aside from the no-refund policy. Will book again.

Dam Square - Central Station, Amsterdam, Netherlands: The bustling heart of Amsterdam, this district attracts hordes of visitors teeming from Centraal Station to Dam Square and its beautiful Nieuwe Kerk (14th-century).
