After transiting for 14 hrs, I wanted the convenience of grabbing my luggage and finding a driver with my name and hotel name on a sign, that's why I paid for the convenience of having the hotel send a driver to retrieve me. When I exited the airport there was no driver for me. I tried calling the hotel, but it didn't go through. Sent them an email. Finally waiting for 40 mins I decided to take a regular taxi and they said 1200 rupees. The hotel finally got back to me by email and i was able to get a hold of the driver. He did't want to pay for parking,so he was trying to get a hold of me on my Canadian number which I changed to an Indian number. The hotel did not provide him with a sign with my name on it and told him I was a local person, but I think my name should be evident that I am of Chinese decent. Finally found his car an hour later. What convenience did I pay for? 300 rupees for the hotel to call a regular taxi? I had about 20 drivers approached me at the airport....could have saved 300 rupees.
The hotel itself is fairly nice. The restaurant attached to the hotel was excellent with friendly staff. I arrived on election day so it was a dry day and I didn't get to check out the bars along Tito's lane.
When I asked the front desk to call a taxi for 4 AM to take me to the airport, he said it will cost 1700 rupees. I asked why so much, he said it's late. I went online and called a taxi for myself and they told me 1500 rupees.Save your money and don't pay for the service.
