“I like this hotel”
I have stayed here several times and always look forward to coming back. The rooms are very nice, the food is good, the staff is pleasant. The restaurant next door is excellent Thai food. The location is great, within striking distance of London.
“Generally fine but nothing special”
Hotel was very charming and looked very nice, and the staff were friendly, but unfortunately there were just a few little niggles that let it down. My room was generally clean, but there were some small hairs in the bath. I asked for a wake up call that I never received. The service at breakfast was not great - had to ask for toast 5 times, and ended up grabbing butter and cutlery from a nearby (unoccupied!) table. In summary, the hotel is generally fine but nothing special. I am glad that I got my room at a reduced rate, not sure I would have been happy had I paid the full price.
“Nice hotel, bad breakfast”
I stayed at this hotel recently with my husband for one night as we were attending a party in the area. The check-in staff were very friendly and polite and provided us with information about where we could eat that evening (either the hotel, the Blue Orchid Thai restaurant or a local pub). The hotel is conveniently located close to the M1 motorway, the building is nice and the room was recently renovated and was also very nice. The only complaint about the room is that the bed was very narrow. Turning over in the night was a bit of a challenge with two people in the bed, but apart from that, we had a good night's sleep. However, our experience with breakfast was not so good... We went down at 9:15am and were seated straight away. Breakfast was until 10am. There was a table in the middle of the room laid up with the continental breakfast which consisted of cereal, juice (which was mostly gone), stale bread (which was almost mostly gone), fresh fruit which ran out soon after we had sat down and mouldy bananas. We were then ignored for about 15 minute while people who arrived after us were served. When we finally did manage to order our tea and toast, the toast was cold and chewy when it arrived. All this cost £12.50 each. We didn't try the cooked breakfast for £20. We did complain on checkout and only had to pay for one breakfast. They handled our complaint very well. In summary , nice hotel for a good price. It would be great if they sorted out the breakfast.
