"The Hen House cottage was a great place to stay for our trip in the Durham area. The village of Brandon is a beautiful location for going for walks in the countryside and with a great pub/ restaurant called the Bay Horse Inn on 50m away it’s a perfect place to stay. The village is very close to the historic house, chapels and gardens of Ushaw and Brancepeth Castle, which are both excellent places to visit!! Would happily stay here again when visiting the area as it’s a perfect little...

"I was staying for 3 weeks , when I arrived I had to contact the people to get the access code as they did not send it as I had an overseas contact number . If I had arrived after dark you would never find the key box as there is no lighting in the area where access is. "Had an amazing stay at Whorlton Lodge. Very spacious and very clean was a home from home. We will definitely be returning in the summer. The views were beautiful from the front windows. "Rachael and Rory were perfect hosts and were always there to assist us. The icing on the cake was a delicious Yorkshire Brack cake waiting for us on our arrival and to top it all Rachael made us a cake half way through our visit. The accommodation was excellent. "A lovely welcome by receptionist and an upgrade to a superior room was very nice. Lovely staff at breakfast too, especially Stephen. Food at breakfast was lovely. Rooms are a bit dated and in need of some decoration but bedding lovely and clean. Pool nice but spoilt by younger generation who didn’t know how to behave in a spa pool. "Nice hotel with good facilities. Excellent spa and gym. Hotel staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfast was buffet with some options to order from the kitchen. Everything was freshly cooked and warm with plenty of staff to attend tables. We used as a base to travel into Durham. Used park and ride which is only 5 mins on the bus and costs £2.20 return - much easier than the hassle of driving into a city centre at the weekend and trying to find a car park. I would definitely use the hotel again."
