“Pleasantly surprised”
Having listened to colleagues' reviews about Brest and their accommodation during a previous visit, I was a bit dubious about my impending stay. However, I needn't have worried. Upon arrival I was pleasantly surprised by this 3star accommodation. I was expecting old furniture, tired rooms, man-made fibre sheets etc. How wrong was I. The reception area was large and clean with helpful staff; the bar area was welcoming and comfy (although service a little slow) and the bedroom was much better than I was expecting. The wood flooring was light and clean and the bed was large and very comfortable with crisp white cotton sheets although the pillows were a little 'high.' The bathroom was very modern and clean with a wet room type feel and granite tops - there was no bath, which was not a problem for me. The maid came every day but at different times so one of the days of my stay the room was not serviced as I was in residence. Continental breakfast in the restaurant was plentiful. I'm not a fan of continental breakfasts so didnt eat much but still thought the price a little steep regardless. The hotel was perfectly placed for me as I was working at Le Quartz conference centre which was a 5 min walk away. Overall a very pleasant stay and should I ever have to travel to Brest again, I would definitely stay here.
“A Weekend in Brest”
Other than the fact that the restaurant was closed on weekends, we found our stay here very good. People were extremely friendly and helpful and most were bilingual!!!!!It is right in the centre of town and the city is delightful to visit. If I were to ever go to Brest again...I would most definitely stay here.
“A good hotel at a competitive price.”
Used Brest as a flight stopover town. The Oceana is a clean, modern hotel and we were impressed with the service and facilities. Excellent bathroom, comfortable bed (could be improved with an alternative 2 soft pillows rather than just the one provided). Attractive bar and decent breakfast buffet. Would try this hotel group again elsewhere in France.
“Decent...but note great”
I would recommend this hotel as it was the nicest hotel in the city of Brest. However, our room smelled like cider chips the whole time. Some rooms that were deemed "non-smoking" actually smelled like stale smoke. The hotel staff did not speak much English (even though the information on Expedia says the staff is multi-lingual) and did not give out good information for places to eat, go, etc. The hotel is in the city of the city and is prime location to shop, eat, etc. The bar in the hotel was nice to have however you often had to go and seek the bartender yourself. The information given also says it has internet access but it didn't. In conclusion, the hotel was not great, but it was fairly clean. It you are looking for just a place to stay with no bells and wistles for a good price in a good location, this hotel is for you. If you want something nicer, look elsewhere.
