Property Amenities
The original downtown centre of Calgary was located 10 blocks to the east of The Fairmont Palliser. The completion of the Edwardian commercial-style luxury hotel in 1914 resulted in the downtown core being relocated around The Palliser. These stores and shops were established on what is now historic Stephen Avenue Walk. In keeping with the sandstone construction of The Fairmont Palliser, Stephen Avenue Walk buildings are also made of sandstone. Stephen Avenue Walk is a vibrant centre of downtown life, home to 350 shops and 35 restaurants and pubs. The theatre district anchors the east end of this five-block cobblestone pedestrian walk. There are ten nightclubs within blocks of the hotel, giving guests the choice of dance, rock, country or jazz music. Most nightclubs offer live music on the weekends.
The Fairmont Palliser is also located next to another city landmark; The Calgary Tower—complete with observation lounge and revolving Panorama room restaurant. Also nearby, the Calgary Zoo is the 10th largest in North America and offers a diverse activities for families on the weekends (the Calgary Zoo is five minutes by car or ten minutes by Public Light Rail Transit/LRT).

“Top Quality”
Amazing old-world character right downtown. Service was just what you'd expect from a hotel of this quality...perfect. Great for anyone wanting to get away from it all, but right in downtown so access to just about anything is easy.
“Enjoy the heritage and 5 star service”
Old worldly charm for all to enjoy at this hotel. The decor in the room is "old worldly" and the bathroom was on the small side but the service was spectacular. Strongly recommend dining at the Rimrock restaurant in the hotel or more casual dining/drinks in the bar. The hotel has the added benefit of being conveniently located to down town and a pleasant stroll to 17th Ave - could't ask for more.
“Old charm, one of my favorits”
When in Calgary I allways stay there.
“Great experience”
great hotel, great location, great rate from Expedia
“Very relaxing”
I would love to stay in this hotel again. The only 2nd thought I would have about staying in this hotel at all would be staying there in the summer. There is no A/C. Even with an unseasonably cold Calgary winter (-29) the room itself was still hot and stuffy. The window does open however we were at the back of one wing of the hotel facing the front but with walls to the left and right so very difficult to catch a breeze. I am not sure that this would be a comfortable place to stay in the summer. The location couldn't be better with only a few min. walk to many stores, bars, pubs and local transit. I would suggest that they be more upfront about their parking rates. You must read the hotel websited carefully to find it. However, at $30.00 per day addional charge for valet parking, it is still a bargain when you look at what nearby parking lots charge and then you would be dragging your luggage for a couple of blocks as well. Perhaps parking rates are something that Expedia could make mention of as to whether or not it is included and if not how much.
“a grand old hotel”
great staff, always helpful.
“Beautiful lobby”
This is a gorgeous older hotel. Our room was not large or modern, but very comfortable and we got a great price. Be aware that parking is in a nearby city lot. It is $20/day with no in/out privileges, so you may end up paying $25 or more depending on how often you use your car.
“Beautiful Hotel”
My only complaint is typical of Calgary. I arrived at midnight and left early the next morning. To park my car overnight for less than 8 hours was 40$. I rented the car for 24 hours for 20$. Does this make sense? Other than that a beautiful old hotel with old world attention to service and detail. I'd pay extra just to sit in the lobby and look. It is a bit more money than some other downtown hotels but it is such a lovely old building with a lot of history and in todays world of packaged "Boutique" hotels it is refreshing to stay in a hotel like this.

“Perfect”
We LOVED this hotel, everything about it was great, the staff was amazing, the room was great (we had a King Suite) and the pool and work out room was also really nice.
