“one of the best hotels in Europe!”
This hotel was amazing! The view from your room is worth the price and the pool is fantastic. Stay away from room service as it is a bit pricy.
“The Real Italy”
The beautiful Hotel Monte Del Re is 'everything it say on the tin'and more!None Italian speakers beware. It is not within a tourist area, and thus it can be very difficult to communicate, the staff have very little limited English. In the local surroundings,no one speaks English. The rooms were immaculate, true Italian style, and the Jacuzzi bath was fab.Be aware that the locals also use the restaurantin the evening,so if wanting a meal booking the restaurant is a must. If leaving the hotel and comming back later you will have difficulty in parking. If you do not like Haute cuisine then the restaurant is not for you!Fixed Price menu, no drinks,49 Euros each. The bars are rather expensive in comparison to the local eateries or bars.A beer and vodka and coke 10 euros, coffee 2.5 euros in the hotel, compared to 2.5 Euros for a 2 pint bottle of beer and 1.5 Euros for 1/2 litre carafe of local wine. The large swimming pool and whirlpool were well used.A Lifeguard was in attendance at all times and was extremely helpful in providing lounger cushions, and towels if requested, also a very clean and pleaseant poolside shower room and toilet facility, with hot and cold showers! Breakfast a delight, cold buffet, plus a hot menu if required, at a small charge. Staff were very helpful and friendly.Take a mosquito repellent for your room. Overall a visit to the Monte Del Re is a must!if you want a relaxing romantic luxury holiday
“Best hotel in Italy”
We just returned from our 10 day trip to Italy. We stayed in 6 five star hotels. This was well above all of our expectations. I travel immensely for both business and pleasure and this is by far the nicest hotel I have stayed at. It exceeded my expecations. We chose to eat dinner at the hotel upon our late arrival. We had 3 waiters servicing us. The food was good and service impeccable. The view from our room was like in the movie, "Under the Tuscan Sun." The hotel was 20 minutes from Bolognia which gave us a chance to relax before beginning our drive to Venice.
“Wonderful historic building with amazing country setting”
The web listing gives a very good impression of this wonderful hotel. It is in a historic building, but everything is updated and very comfortable. The countryside is amazing, full of agriculture -- beautiful wheat fields, vinyards, fruit trees. The hotel is on a high hill with fantastic views of the countryside. The restaurant was first class in quality of the menu and the service. This was reflected in the prices.
“beautiful hotel in magnificent setting”
booked this hotel on the basis of expedia recommendations and were not disappointed. in the countryside on top of a hill with beautiful rooms and a fantastic if expensive restaurant. too quiet for our teenagers but ideal for couples.
“Totally delighted”
The hotel and location are unique, very nice atmosphere and facilities. A good base to explore l'Emilia-Romagna and its cuisine. Staff were fantastic, always going the extra mile and with a smile on their faces at all times. Food and drinks very good and reasonably priced for a hotel of such category. I look forward to returning and spend more days there.
“A beautiful villa”
Beautifully situated villa with spectacular view. Explore the small towns and countryside nearby. Excellent food.
“Spacious rooms and lovely staff”
We had trouble finding the way to the hotel at night. Our rental car's GPS device took us to the hotel from a route that is closed. Driving from a very narrow street, in pitch dark was not pleasant. We could see the lights of the hotel at the top of the mountain but couldn't reach there. Thank God on our way down to the main road we found a police car, and the lovely policemen took us to the hotel. Francesca welcomed us to the hotel with her angelic voice. The staff was very kind and helpful. Our room as well as the bathroom was very spacious and comfortable. I guess it will be a nice hotel to stay for weekend getaways.
“very nice hotel”
lovely setting on top of a hill. Take your wife.
“Wedding venue that also does accomodation”
This is a very pretty hotel with a great outlook and amazing pool. However we booked on a weekend and had terrible service the whole time because of the fact there was a wedding on both days we were there. The best (worst?) example is, bearing in mind this hotel is in a middle of nowhere location, they initially refused to let us eat in the hotel restaurant as they were 'fully booked'. At no time during check in were we told to book the restaurant if we wanted to eat there, and the fact there were only three occupied tables when we were refused was unforgivable. I was also very annoyed to travel out to this country hotel (at least half an hour from Bologna) and be given a room with a view of an internal courtyard roof instead of the countryside view that 90% of the rooms must have had. When we tried to change rooms at 2.00 in the afternoon, apparently they were 'fully booked' and we couldn't change.
