“great location”
The Clarence Hotel has a great location for sightseeing. It's close to the lively Temple Bar area pubs and restaurants and walking distance to shopping and museums.
“Clarence Hotel - A Wonderful Hotel located in a perfect setting for touring Dublin”
We spent two nights at the Clarence Hotel, Myself, My wife and my 12 year old son. From the moment we checked in, the clerks at the front desk and the bell hops went out of their way to accommodate us. The hotel has a beautiful wood design throughout the public areas and rooms. It seems a lot of care has gone into the design. The location provides easy walking access to most of the tourist spots, including Dublin Castle, Trinity College, Museums. We took an extended walk to the Guinness Brewery. My only negative comments deal with the fact that the hotel sits on the Temple Bar Nightclub strip and the noise was quite load at night, with closed windows providing little relief from the young people partying in the clubs and police paddy wagons. If you are a light sleeper, you'll need to bring your earplugs as the noise continues until 1-2am. Other than that, all Kudos!
“Lovely but Loud”
This hotel was great, although not spectacular. The only drawback to being in the heart of Dublin's Temple Bar area is that the hotel is situated directly next to a very loud club, whose bass we heard pumping techno dj music until 2 or 3 am. If you want a peaceful night's rest, either bring earplugs or go somewhere else. The amenities and everything else in our room were great. Nice towel warmer in the bathroom. The staff was very friendly and helpful in giving us directions all over the city and restaurant recommendations. And they let us leave our bags at the hotel the day we checked out for a while so we could go out and have lunch before we left the city. Very nice folks there.
“Clarence--great stay!”
Great staff, excellent City Centre location in Temple Bar (which can be noisy at night), charming European-style facilities (thoroughly modern)...would recommend to anyone.
“A great place to stay”
We enjoyed our stay the staff was very helpful with all our needs. The only tip I can pass on. the bars in Temple Bar do get very loud till 4 am bring ear plugs if you need to keep your window open.
“Beautiful hotel in great location”
Only negative to this hotel is the noise from the back street till 4 in the morning. Try to get room toward front of the hotel on the River Liffey side.
“Best in Dublin!”
My wife and I stayed at the Clarence for 3 nights and it was truly magnificent! Close to everything and service was excellent.
“Very Impressive”
Stayed for two nights in Oct 2005...Very impressed with the hotel, the staff is friendly and helpful...even served us late night drinks in the lobby -- on the house...also, A-list star sightings...a weekend to remember...we'll be back soon!!
“service always beats decor”
While the decor is a big spartan-chic, the overall service is top notch and extremely freindly. i have heard they hotel has plans (now on hold) to upgrade the property and rooms. still everything is in great condition and very very clean. The breakfast offerings are first rate, a bit pricy, but it is a 5 star hotel.
“Clarence was awesome”
Totally friendly and accomodating staff, super close to what you want to experience in Dublin, and all around sweet stylish rooms. The restaurant is to die for.
