“Friendly and helpful”

There are two things that really make the Locanda Il Gallo stand out as a hotel: the staff and the restaurant. It's a small hotel, really just a few rooms above a restaurant, but the staff are friendly and helpful, which gives the place a family atmosphere. We really felt at home there. The restaurant is very good, with a smallish menu but a good selection of local dishes, including a number of vegetarian options. As is generally the case with Italian food, the dishes are simple, but expertly prepared from good quality ingredients. Prices are very reasonable. As you would expect in Chianti, the wine list based on what is produced locally, and is weighted towards reds (although we had a very decent white as well). Our room was simple, but large and comfortable. Overall I would heartily recommend this hotel.
