“Can't wait to go back”
Excellent service, beautiful setting, a wonderful way to relax and enjoy the Virginia country. Yourts were very comfortable, included all amenities, and provided the mountain feel that the resort emulates.
“Already making plans to go back”
I had never even heard of a Yurt before I saw the listing here. Pictures just do NOT do them justice. When I walked in it took my breath away. It was raining the day we were here but that just added to the experience. The rain falling atop the Yurt all the while we were wrapped in comfort on the inside. We are already making plans to return.
“Best hotel I've stayed at in a long time!”
This was a lodge set in a beautiful collection of fields, mountains, and lakes. There were camping cabins and yurts for other options, which we will be trying next time for sure! The location was close to where we needed - we were skydiving in Orange, VA - yet the lush scenery made us feel like we were far from civilization. The pool, hot tub, two saunas and activity room were the best I've seen in a long time. We appreciated the personal service given to us by the concierge, as she answered any questions we had and gave us suggestions for local restaurants to try. The room itself was very comfortable - an oversized plush chair for reading, and real porcelain coffee cups added to the charm. Overall, I would definitely recommend this hotel for anyone looking for a weekend getaway, or a weeklong hiatus.
“Country Charm”
This resort has everything you could want, marina, pool, beautiful lake, game room, room amenities, etc. and the room was very clean. We stayed in the lodge in a one queen room which was very small. However, they managed to utilize every bit of space with their customers in mind. The room had a microwave, frig., iron, large TV, etc. Located in a lovely country location away from it all.
“My home away from home”
It is an excellent place to stay when visiting Charlottesville. Plenty of activities for the family including mini-golf, horseback riding, tennis courts, etc.... It is centric to all the winneries for those going on wine tasting tours.
“Envy of hotel providers. Soul satisfying secret and charm.”
see above.
“Great family destination”
We reserved three three room cabins for a family get together in association with my daughters graduation from UVa. We really enjoyed the property. The cabins were great, roomy, comfortable, well equipped. We got out and enjoyed the paddle boats and the pontoon boat. We scheduled a room for 19 people for dinner and ordered off the catering menu. The food was delicious and the staff was extremely friendly and conscientious We never got to the pool although it looked great and the mini golf also looked like fun. After the dinner we went down to the activity room and had a blast. There were two pool tables and two ping pong tables. We brought in some drinks from the bar. There were plenty of arcade games and a giant checkerboard where my sister beat all comers. Thank you Shenandoah Crossing for a wonderful time.
“Great Getaway”
This is a very quiet out of the way location in central Virginia. It's also a resort with cabins and activities. The room I had was a little small, but it was comfortable, quiet and clean.
“Will definitely return”
We were apprehensive about this stay due to a bad review. However, our visit was the opposite -- it was great! Room comfortable, quiet, wonderful beds, heavy fluffy towels. And the receptionist went over and above in courtesy and helpfulness. We arrived several hours early and she permitted us to check-in. Although our reservation was already in her books, she changed our room, due to our request to overlook the lake. My only complaint (and it's small!) is that housekeeping forgot to put paper cups in our room. However, there were 4 ceramic cups (for a.m. coffee) so we didn't suffer. Both the microwave and refrigerator were newish and perfectly clean. I'd highly recommend this lodge for a stay!! We intend to return, for sure!!
“A Jewel In The Woods”
Two words: Stay Here. This is our second stay at Shenandoah and we are looking forward to our next stay. My girlfriend and I go to VA about once a month for a family visit. We plan on bringing the kids in the Spring and Shenandoah is where we plan to stay. Indoor and outdoor pools, a lake for canoing, kayaking and paddle boats, horseback riding, tennis and basketball courts, a softball field, mini-golf. The restaurant on grounds, Izacs, is great. And for history, this place provides easy access to the Blue Ridge Mtns, Montpelier, Monticello, Ash Lawn, Charlottesville and other historic areas. Richmond is a bit of a drive, but not all that far. We stayed in the "motel" area, but there are cabins and yurts as well. And from what others have said, they are beautiful. One negative is that internet access is not free. It's not all that much, but not free. This is a time share resort. Don't let that deter you. The sales staff is not pushy. They ask if you want to participate in the sales presentation. And if your answer is "no," it is absolutely fine. The entire staff from check in to grounds crew is fantastic. True Southern Hospitality. Now, for all you "I need to find the closest shopping mall" folks, forget about it here, unless you are going to Charlottesville. You even need to travel down a back woods country road to get to this Jewel In The Woods. Looking forward to our next visit. And if you are planning a stay here, plan ahead. It books up quick. Happy Travels
