“Out of the way but in the middle of it”

Many of the hotels in the old quarter of Hanoi are on the chaotic roads of the area, however the Splendid Star hotel is in an alley way off the road near to St Josephs. It is therefore about as quiet as you can get while still being a couple of minutes walk to the lake and the rest of the old quarter. It is also within walking distance of the french quarter. The staff are excellent and go out of their way to help you in almost any way. They want to make you feel as if you are part of their family and this is something they very much achieve.

We had a great experience at the Splendid Star Hotel, the staff on the front desk were extremely friendly and helpful, greeting us with tea and fruit, even booking the next leg of our accommodation and travel for us, doing all the ground work, finding the cheapest deals and then passing them onto us - for Halong Bay, Sapa and travel to Hoi An ( package tour very excellent , good value ) . the rooms were new and cute , air-condition is good and the bathroom is modern and clean , spacious , all is new. We consider it is very value for money. Free Wifi and computer with internet in room. The water is strong and hot. Breakfast is included and great . We are so happy we choose this hotel for our stay in Hanoi. Highly recommend!!

Everything about the Splended Star was exceptional , lovely !!! The hotel was spotlessly clean, the rooms were well laid out , Comfy beds, clean, all basic amenities, even computer in the room (free ) is great. The breakfast at the hotel was amazing , Not a buffet style but the quality beats everything is great . The staff were very friendly and went out of the way to ensure a comfortable stay. We had the hotel staff book our tour itinerary to Halong Bay and Sapa and we were not disapointed. They gave us a great deal and every thing about our tours was exceptional and great value for money . The location was in the heart of the Old Quarter with plenty of restaurants, shops, internet cafes close by. The staff went out of their way on several occassions for us. We arrived from Sapa at 4:30am, they opened the hotel, offered us coffee and cleaned a room for us so we could shower and have a nap. They escorted us to the train station on several occassions, always offered us complimentary coffee and tea and always had smiles on their faces. i would definitly stay with them again if back in Hanoi.

We couldn't rate this great little hotel more highly, with friendly and helpful staff that greeted us each day with huge smiles and a great location in the Old Quarter of Hanoi. After a long journey to Vietnam we were smoothly transported to the hotel via their air conditioned airport shuttle service (well worth the $18USD), then met at the hotel with chilled face towels, refreshing mango smoothies and extremely helpful and informative staff. From the moment we arrived, to the moment we left they were so accommodating. They recommended restaurants which were always right on, they booked our city tour, Halong Bay trip,sapa trip booked our flights to hue and nha trang , arranged hotels in Hoi An, Hue and nha trang , along with drivers and hotel pick-up, then followed up with a phone call to us in Hue , hoi an , nha trang city hotels to make sure everything was OK. These are awesome people and very genuine. The rooms are beautifully decorated. We stayed in a deluxe room for the first 3 nights and then moved to a suite after our Halong Bay . Free computer in the room. trip which was larger, both were good choices , perfect and great value .This was the first hotel we stayed in in Vietnam and after a month of traveling this country, it still remains the best hotel experience we have had. I highly recommend it as a base from which to start your Vietnam adventure .

the fist , when we came to splendid star hotel , the receptions welcome us very friendly with smile : give us free city map and free welcome juice . and so our room very big room with big bathtub , special : splendid view church . we was stayed 2 nights : the breakfast very good with many order ( vietnam food and vestern ) , all staff very friendly , helpful , services with smiles . also we booked package tours , accomodations all vietnam ( hanoi , ha long bay tour , sapa tour , hue city , hoi an town ,nha trang city , mekong river tour , ho chi minh city ) with them was excellent , good value . i recommend splendid star hotel for all traveler ( hotels and package tours ) .

“fantastic value in central Hanoi”

Location, location, location! You can easily walk everywhere in the historic district from the Splendid Star Hotel. Other perks include free internet stations in the lobby, a genuinely friendly staff and the delicious pho and dragon fruit that are included in the bargain basement price. Our room and bath was tiny but sparkling clean AND they have a lift if you are pulling excess baggage.

“Charming service”

Helpful staff and computer in the room which saved us from missing a flight. The only down side is that it's next to the cathedral and the bells ring all night - so it is noisy!

“Nice hotel - Great Staff”

The Splendid Star is a small botique hotel and we were treated like family. The staff was very accomodating and were quick to fulfill any requests we had. The room was very clean and good view. The bathroom was a bit small, but it was to be expected in Hanoi. The bed was a bit uncomfortable(hard) for me, but that is also to be expected throughout Asia. The location is perfect. Its near the St Paul's Cathedral, near many good restaurants, shopping and the lake. This was by far the best value I have ever had.

“Not recommended”

Not really impressed with this hotel.. if you want to book this hotel make sure you ask for room with window otherwise they will give you a tiny cell-like room with a shoe mark on the bed sheet. and make sure to ask for your passport after check-in, apparently The guy like to hold guest's passport for no apparent reason.
