“The hotel of choice”
Two blocks from the Metro; a few blocks from the Astros Park; just a few blocks off of the interstate, the Alden is very convenient if you plan to stay in Houston. As soon as you drive up out front, you know this will be a pleasant experience. Polite and professional staff greet you and prepare you for a outstanding stay. I love the lobby with the "Wall of Light" . Sitting in the lobby with some wine and cheese, provided by the hotel, you can wash away the worries of the day. It is bot relaxing and pleasing to the artistic eye. The rooms are clean and comfortable. I usually have trouble sleeping in hotels. I don't have that problem here. If i have a complaint it has to do with the towels. Seems for a hotel this nice, they might not be as rough as they are. Just think, my only complaint is about a scratchy towel. The bar and restaurant in the hotel are just as polished as the rest of the place. We had the pleasure of getting some food late one night, at the bar, and found it exceptional. The chef was just leaving, but the bartender talked him into one more dish for us. Talk about service. My wife and I are at the stage in our life where we thing we deserve more than a Motel 6. And when we go to Houston, the only place for us is the Alden.
“Would Recomend”
Hotel very classy! Hotel staff very nice. My husband and I stayed here for a night away from the kids. The Hotel was very clean and the rooms are cozy. Nice marble bathrooms Room sevice was a bit pricey. The outside of the Hotel was nothing to write home about but the inside made up for it. Would stay again
“Very, Very Nice - Loved It!!!”
The Alden Houston was awesome! I was a little hesitant about it since I did not know anything about it. The decor is modern which I love! The room was great - beds were comfortable, lots of pillows, shower was fabulous. Staff was very courteous and went out of their way to accomodate our needs. Will definitely stay there again when in Houston.
“modern cool”
great restaraunt, cool lobby and cool rooms. The gym is pretty lame, 3 treadmills and some free weights and a bench. No pool. Valet parking was $20 a day. This is the place to stay if you MUST go to Houton, TX.
“All fine”
Excellent, I was return
“Cozy, unexpected comfort/ Houstons Hidden Jewel”
My friends and I were going to see Jason Mraz at the Verizon wireless center downtown. I searched Expedia for a downtown hotel that was affordable and within walking distance of the venue. The Alden Hotel, which is part of the Preferred Hotel chain, was highlighted as Insider's Select choice and was very reasonably priced for the location. I had never stayed at a Preferred hotel before and I will say I was impressed. The hotel is actually the old Sam Houston Hotel that has been modernly renovated and has FREE wireless internet access. A party of four stayed very comfortably in the double bed room, and had a nice sunrise view of the Minute Maid Center. Additionally, the bathrooms features all Kohler fixtures and chocolate tile. Additionally, their fitness center is open 24 hours and is free for guests! Their lobby was small and cozy and the front desk service representatives checked us in quickly and efficiently and we were in our room within minutes of walking in the front door. Can't wait to stay again
“all at the alden”
The location of the Alden is right in the mix. Plenty of restaurant choices within walking distance or short drive. Parking was easy to find and cheap compared to other cities we have traveled. Alden does charge for overnight parking and is convenient after a long day. Check-in was fast. Our room was comfortable, restful, and clean. I would recommend it.
“Excellent work set up in rooms-Will go back again”
The rooms have a long couch placed at the foot of the bed with a small round work table... perfect for working in the room. (Free wi-fi.) The hotel also provides a driver who is available to transport to appointments within a 10 mile radius. No charge for driving; just a tip was required. We used this service three times and the driver was always prompt.
“Great hotel, service and location”
My son and I went to Houston for the Major League Soccer All-Star Game, as well as an Astros game, and we stayed at the Alden Houston because it is so close to Minute Maid Park and light rail, which we took to Reliant Stadium, where the All-Star Game was held. The Alden is a business hotel, so it's not geared toward young children (my son is 9 year old), but the staff was extremely accommodating and helpful, our room was clean and very nice, and we couldn't have been more pleased with our experience. I'd recommend the Alden Houston to anyone of any age who is traveling for business or pleasure!
“a gem in a dreadful but evolving neighborhood surrounded by bail bonds shops.”
very chic. small but comfortable rooms. friendly staff. excellent wine list.
