“Nice Place”
I enjoyed the 4 nights I had at the hotel but in reality I was only there evenings since I was out seeing Kyoto on walking tours each day. If you want a central location, the hotel is nice. There is no wireless in the room and if you want some english language television, the only channel I could find is BBC. Having a Starbucks right there is very nice. Skip the hotel bar. Too expensive. Buy beer at Circle K instead or find a pub. Did not eat any meals at the hotel. I was on a budget so took food into the room like noodle bowls, sandwiches, sushi. All in all, the hotel worked out very well for me. Single rooms are small so if you want something with more room, better let them know.
“Excellent hotel location”
Hotel is in excellent location, convenient to Karasuma subway station. The rooms are spacious, an exception in Japan, with everything one needs. I highly recommend this hotel. The have internet access in the lobby free of charge.
“Would definitely like to stay at that hotel again”
Excellent service. The staff members are all very polite and helpful. The location is really convenient. Definitely would like to stay at that hotel during my next visit.
“Excellent location!”
This was a great hotel -- located in a "business-y" area of Kyoto. You are right next to a subway stop, as well as main bus stops to get you anywhere you'd need to go in town. Plus, you're close to the main Kyoto station, which has links to neighboring towns via the JR and other rail lines. Somewhat small hotel room, but on par with London/Euro city hotels. Smallish bath, but all very clean. Very friendly staff -- ask for a tofu restaurant recommendation: the lady at the front desk gave us a great one! Right near the big Kyoto shopping area, too. And there is a Starbuck's attached for morning coffee!
“Recommended”
Good, clean hotel next to Shijo subway (two stops from JR), easy to find, close to shopping area. Rooms were clean, good size and quiet. Beds were comfortable though pillows a bit on the small side. Free internet access in the lobby. Staff courteous and spoke English well. Would stay again and would recommend to others.
“Great location”
We stayed here for one night in November. The hotel is very easy to find, right next to the subway station, only two stops from Kyoto station. The location is great - very near to the Nishiki market, and an easy 15 minutes walk to Gion corner then on to Kyomizu-dera. There are lots of bars and restaurants around Pontocho. We didn't actually spend that much time in the hotel, but it was friendly and comfortable. Maybe a little bit old-fashioned, but that's no complaint and no problem. One special thing was to get up early, take the subway to Kyoto, then the JR line for two stops to Inari. Spending a couple of hours at Fushimi Inari in early morning was wonderful.
“Excellent value for the money”
Perfect service, staff very helpful with information about off-site restauarnts, stores, attractions, etc. Free broadband internet service available 24/7 in good lobby location. Starbuck coffee shop on site.
“I would definitely go back.”
I enjoyed staying in this hotel. The location is great. The hotel staff are very pleasant. I was very impressed by the people in Kyoto. They are so friendly and polite. My husband and I enjoyed touring Kyoto by bus and the subway.
“Comfy and Convenient”
We had reserved a standard two twin room for three people and had expected to struggle in order to get some kind of rollaway or futon in Japanese but were pleasantly surprised to find they had already set up the foldaway couch for us. The hotel room itself was small, as was the bathroom, which is typical of most Japanese hotels I think. However, it had all the amenities we could ever need. There's a lan cable behind the tv, paper slippers, bathrobes, a hot water dispenser, hairbrushes, toothbrushes, toothpaste, disposable razors, hand soap, and a dispenser shampoo, body wash, conditioner (so you really don't need to bring little bottles with you!) Also, the housekeeping was awesome. We got new bathrobes and slippers (by the end we had a little stockpile since we never used them) and towels everyday. And if there was stuff on our bed, they made it, and then put it back on top exactly where it was before. This hotel is in a very convenient location since the entrance is literally ten feet away from the nearest subway entrance (exit 5 from Karasuma line) and about a five minute walk to Shijo street. From there it's another twenty minute walk to the main downtown area or you can take the Hankyu line from the station to Marutamachi which makes it even shorter.
“Good hotel in the center of Kyoto”
Very comfortable location with lots of connections to both the railway station and Gyon. Very helpful personnel at the reception: I had quite a big problem and they managed to solve it within minutes.
