The room was not very clean, the mattress was very old and uncomfortable, the room was noisy, and breakfast with very low-quality food (canned fruits and cheap fruit juices) and no options for salty breakfast. The price is too high for the services provided. Nevertheless, the staff is friendly and very handy.

You get what you pay for.
This is a budget-grade hotel, at a budget price. However, it is in an excellent ;location, right on the Via Grande, ideal for shops, and not far from the waterfront. Breakfast was basic, but decent. My room could have done with a deep clean, as I was bitten by unseen insects on three separate occasions. After a couple of days I started checking my bedclothes in the evenings.

Hot and horrible.
We travel frequently, and this was the worst hotel we've ever stayed in. We were on the 5th floor in August, and the air conditioner was broken, front desk said they would come look at it, and they never came. We couldn't sleep at all in the heat. The carpet was so dirty my kids feet turned black after 10 mins. The bathroom smelled terrible. I spent a ridiculous amount of money on this hotel (high season) for the service and quality we received.

Great location but not great rooms
Rooms were not very clean. Bathrooms need to be redesigned as the shower was extremely small. Beds are too soft coupled with a very hard pillow. Very noisy location and windows didn’t close completely. Location is good and service staff were excellent.

Wouldn't stay here again
The positive: Location. The negative: The worst beds we have ever used in our lives. You literally had the metal springs poking your entire body. The bathroom was ridiculous, you couldn't shower without causing a flood on the entire floor. The breakfast was ok if you were really hungry.

Booked this hotel because we needed somewhere with parking and it describes itself as the 'parking inn'. However on arrival we were told the only free parking was on the busy street outisde (as it was the evening), which was packed. The hotel's own parking is in an underground car park a few streets away, for which we had to pay 10 euros. It was difficult to access this car park because if the one way system.

Very central ad easy to port and train station
Old hotel with plenty of character. Good size rooms and friendly staff. Right in the heart of the main shopping street. Bus stop 50m away to train station. My only down side was some noisy plumbing!

Convenient Place to Stay
Good for a one night stop over. Things are old, but it does the job. Staff are friendly. Conveniently placed in the middle of town. This place is only for sleeping and getting around.

close to seaport
for its price it is ok given that it's close to Moby port and we wanted to leave to Sardinia at 8 am we recommend a one night stay if you need such a good location but for a long stay it's not ideal: there is smoke smell every where and the bed is not comfortable. Room is clean though and breakfast is better than expected given the low cost of the hotel

Your review stated there was car parking but this is in the front street and you will be lucky to get this so you will have to drive to a public car park, this is just over the street but people should know this.

Great for overnight in Livorno!
We got off a ferry from Corsica and were looking for a simple overnight towards onward travel. Giappone Hotel had a great rate and a great location for a reasonably priced cab ride from the ferry and the bus to central train station is right outside. Room was nice enough, Staff was helpful for getting the train schedules we needed, wifi worked pretty good, and included breakfast was first rate. I'd stayed in this hotel again!

The location was convenient. But that's about the only positive thing I have to say. The staff member who greeted us wasn't very welcoming nor polite. However the gentlemen on our way out was very helpful in calling us a taxi. The hallways reek like cigarette smoke. And I was honestly nervous about sleeping in the bed linens that look like they're from the 70s. Overall I think the hotel was overpriced and would not stay here again.

Hotels.com compensation fail secure room.
Booked the hotel on line via hotels.com and payed on credit card on arrival we were told that no room was available. Had to spend and extra €120.00 and time on a near by hotel. The above hotel has a bad Organization layout to secure rooms for clients. will not recommend to no one. Hope hotels.com will compensate for above lost time and money. Best wishes Paulo Fern.

Hotel central located with access to the local shops and town center. Rooms are basic with AC, clean. Breakfast simple but good enough. Staff helpful enough with good enough English. Free wifi Ideal for motor bike touring, Parking motor bike or car is extra but safe.

Decent in a pinch
The front desk attendant welcomed us and was very friendly and accomodating. The hotel in general was alright for the price we paid. The bed was hard as a rock, however, we had the window open overnight and there was little noise considering the location in town. The coffee was terrible and the server ignored us. When closing for breakfast he didn't even ask us if we would like one last cup before he closed everything down and started to turn off the lights. We were leaving that day and weren't staying there longer than one night, but still, to tear it all down and then turn lights out like we were supposed to leave?! When we did leave, they didn't say "have a good day" or anything.

Wifi access and Internet connections were both down, however staff provided assistance in gathering new travel information for us. Livorno is not a tourist destination, rather a transit point and this hotel was cheap and clean.
