“Our first hotel in Italy - best one, too!”
About a 20 minute walk from the train station, very flat, not a busy street. Great folks at the front desk, very helpful and friendly. Breakfast buffet was fresh, varied, and delicious. Overall, best hotel we had in our 3 weeks in Italy.
“a gem of a place”
We knew nothing of Viareggio or the Tirrenia when we booked. We relied entirely on favourable reviews on the internet. And we sure weren't disappointed. A gorgeous small hotel set just off the beach promenade in Viareggio, the Tirrenia is superbly run by Lucca and his family. We have never encountered a cleaner, more hospitable place and would highly recommend it to anyone visiting Viareggio. While some rooms in the attic will not suit tall people (i.e anyone over about 4 feet), the other rooms are spacious with views of the street. Noise may be a problem in the high season but was not a feature in September. The breakfast was the best we experienced on our travels in Italy and the assistance with 'where to go' and 'what to do' while in town was second to none. We would return in an instant.
“Lovely hotel”
This was a small family run hotel, very well furnished and spotlessly clean. We had a room with a balcony overlooking a quiet side street with a side view to the seafront. Everything about the hotel was first class. The breakfast was available up to 10.30 and was always being replenished right up to end of service. The beds were comfortable, the air conditioning worked, the bathroom was well appointed and clean. It represented good value for money.
“Recommended”
Very good hotel, close to the beach and ideal for using as a base for exploring historical towns in the area. Staff are very helpful and there is free internet. Good breakfasts and close to many restaurants in the town.
