“Sands Resort, Mauritius”
Flew Air France via Paris. Good service but obviously direct would have been better but not available at the cost. Met by local Connections rep on behalf of Expedia. The whole package was spot on and great value even at late notice. The hotel is simply excellent. The service was much better than expected. The rooms were huge, comfortable and well equipped. The views were awesome. The food was varied and good quality (only ate in the half board restaurant which was buffet breakfast and dinner). The beach and sea were great, clean and quiet. They have a good range of free watersports. The pool was very nice. Only negative was proximity to neighbouring property, a house that had a number of dogs that barked and a noisy cockerel!
“Nice place to go with families”
NIce hotel enviroment! Lots of things to do at the hotel and the staff really makes you feel good. Nice place for families and relaxing!
“A week in Mauritius”
Great hotel, loads of activities, staff very polite, great food... the only think I didn't really like was the dinner menu...when we arrived we've been told that there's gonna be a menu for 2 days and buffet for the rest of the days of our stay. I was very dissapointed when we actually had a menu for 5 days and a buffet just once...the menu wasn't really good and it took them nearly 30 minutes to bring us just starter, another 30 min for the main course and another 30 for the desert so we ended up having dinner for nearly 2 hours...the portions of food were also tiny, so you felt still hungry afterwards and the choice wasn't really big...you could only choose between 2 starters, 2 main courses and 2 deserts...the second choice was mostly for vegetarians so if you are not fond of vegetables you don't have much of a choice..I much preffered the buffet because you didn't have to wait for anybody to find you a table and wait for you order. You could just come, take the plates and put whatever food you like on them and eat as much as you want...the choice was also great!! different kind of salads, meats, seafood, pastas, currys, breads and desserts or fresh fruit...Would definatelly come back again
“Paradise”
Wonderful place, excellent conditions and very friendly staff!
“Phenomenal 4* Hotel: the Sands was amazing!”
My girlfriend and I stayed at the Sands Resort for five days in early December and it was exceptional. The service is first-rate, the rooms (all the deluxe rooms are identical) are huge and comfortable, all facing the ocean, and the location is stunning. The food at the restaurant is excellent, and it's worth getting one of the set menus at the fine dining restaurants or having the degustation menu on the beach for a special occasion - they pull out all the stops. It is accurately rated as a 4* hotel, but the experience is definitely 5*: they more than bridge the gap with the quality of the service and friendliness of the staff. Highly recommended.
“Lovely hotel - a real find!”
The hotel surpassed our expectations. Lovely location, gorgeous beach, generous hotel room, excellent service! We would love to go there again! Hotel very good value compared to neighbouring hotels.
“Piece of heaven”
Stayed in 5 hotels during my recent stay in Mauritius and this was clearly the best of them. A bit pricey but the service and quality made it worth it. Especially loved that they cleaned your sun glasses at the beach. Food and setting of the restaurant divine. Only risk with this place is that you may not want to leave.
“Perfect!”
Perfect hotel on a perfect island! Loads of activities and very stable weather. Food is excellent!
“Wonderful Stay”
An lovely hotel with friendly and amazing staff. I had a massage at the spa on one of the days which was blissful, but an error in the booking meant the wrong massage was performed. The spa supervisor was quick to respond and even offered me a complimentary treatment as an apology. 24 hour room service was the only thing missing! All in all a brilliant experience.
“The worst breakfast ever!”
The location, facilities and range of activities of this resort was excellent. The standard of service of the staff was very poor with the exception of the night staff who did our greeting and the room service people. The internet facilities in the library didn't work and the communication with staff very poor - especially from the reception staff. Most disappointing of all was the poor standard of food. Paying a premium price we received either average or poor standard of food. There was enough to eat but a sameness about it all despite there being official themed days in the evening meal. Our boxed breakfast on our departure morning outstanding for the WORST reasons - easily the most unhygenic and poor quality of food we've been presented anywhere let alone at a resort that charges premium prices. No food wrapped, no drink, bread stale and all fruit bruised. That we were left with this as our last impression was pathetic and indicative of their concern for us as 'guests'.
