“Beautiful view, best breakfast in Sicily”
Our junior suite at Villa Carlotta had a fabulous view of the ocean and hillside. It was clean, spacious, elegant, and very comfortable. The room was heated for our November stay and this was great since it was rainy and very windy during some of our visit. The staff spoke English and were very welcoming. They gave us a glass of wine upon arrival and orientation to Taormina. The hotel dining room is on the top floor with views of the sea, town, and Mt Etna. It had the best breakfast buffet of all the places we stayed in Sicily. We ate dinner at the hotel one night but, since it was off-season, the main dishes were not optimal. The hotel is easily accessed by car by driving up Via L. Pirandello from SS114 to avoid driving through Taormina itself. The hotel will park your car for a fee and we advise this to avoid a long hike from the available parking lots. The only drawback to the hotel is that it is about a 10 minute level walk into the main shopping/restaurant area of Taormina, along a street with a narrow sidewalk and mostly closed buildings. Again, this was off season, so there may be more activity along the street at other times of the year. We would definitely recommend this hotel.
“UNFORGETTABLE”
WONDERFUL!!!!!!!! Experience of a life time... all accomodations from the room to the morning breakfast were delightful... Simone and Olga were exceptionally helpful... SO hospitable... We LOVE VILLA CARLOTTA!!!! may we see you all again. God Bless Colletti & Raley
“Wonderful Hotel”
Perfect in every way except for the screaming kids. Given how far guests are traveling and how much they're spending for what they hope will be restful vacations, the hotel might consider setting a minimum age requirement. Otherwise, great: extremely comfortable with magnificent views, a delicious and abundant breakfast buffet and a staff that could not possibly be more accommodating.
“Relaxing Holiday”
Very nice hotel for a holiday and relaxing! We loved it :-)
“Beautiful hotel, outstanding views, great service”
Beautiful, classy but comfortable room. Great staff. Breakfast was a gourmet buffet brunch with world class ocean views. Location was great. We looked hard for a great hotel in This town but got very lucky finding such a great hotel.
“Fabulous!”
Proessional and friendly staff, who stopped short of nothing to make sure that we enjoyed our stay at both the hotel and the area in total. Beautiful property, well maintained. Stunning views.
“AN AMAZING HOTEL IN A TERRIFIC LOCATION!!”
We got a suite with a sea view and a terrace, so the price wasn't cheap - but we must say, it was worth it! Our terrace was the size and feeling of a patio at home - large, diverse flora, comfy furniture - not something one would expect at a hotel. The accomodations were comfortable and had great style. But the top floor / lounge, dining area was the "piece de resistance": look to one side and see the Ionian sea, and to the other and see snow capped Mt. Etna. Breakfast was as good as it gets, and appointed beautifully. I can't say enough about the staff - sometimes one can forget that they're hired help. We took a taxi to the highest point in town, did our sightseeing /eating / shopping and then walked home - that was our ritual, twice daily. Also, one afternoon we hired a guide and did the "Godfather tour" - so much fun! There's also a swimming pool with various places to lounge around it. And, lastly, they even have their own ruins on the property (although don't expect another Roman Theater). I cannot recommend this hotel enough. It was really special.
“What a splendid place!”
This hotel certainly has plenty of character and history and its decorations and furnishings were very well presented and very nicely complimented the age of the building. It is ideally sited just on the fringes of the town with a superb view from the top floor terrace/breakfast room and one could have stayed in and around the hotel all day in order to enjoy its attractions. However, Mount Etna called and visits there and those already planned elsewhere in the vicinity meant that staying close to 'home' was not an option during our visit to Taormina. The double level room we were offered, with its circular cast iron staircase, may not have suited everyone but we found it to be ideal for our visit - light, airy and comfortable and with an exceptional view. The location was ideal for public transport with a bus stop directly outside; the service bus to Taormina from Catania airport stops there and makes the journey easy - and cheap (5 Euros)! Having no restaurant is not a problem for there are many restaurants with plenty of choice of cuisine within walking distance of the hotel. We enjoyed our short visit and would return - but there are so many other places in the world that require to be explored - so the chances of returning to Siciliy are now slim but it was a wonderful experience while we were there.
“Amazing weekend”
We were there for a weekend after our engagement in May 2007 and we had a fantastic time. The staff was extremely friendly, we were greated with a glass of champaign in the bar area and then were give the tour of the hotel. Fantastic view on the sea as well as mount Etna. This is the place to stay in Taormina, since it's up in the town (much nicer than the beach down below), but not in the center of the town, so a bit quieter. Food overall is another highlight. We'll definitely go back.
“Spectacular 1st stop of our trip !!”
We were greeted with a very warm welcome at Villa Carlotta . My husband andI took my mom to Sicily for her 75th birthday . Her parents were both born there and she had never been there. We visited several towns including where my grandparents were born . The entire trip was very special . Our first stop was in Taormina and we stayed at Villa Carlotta . I had emailed Riccardo ahead of time to tell them that we were celebrating mom's birthday in her grandparents home country . We had a wonderful room, and when we arrived they had a birthday cake and champagne waiting for us . We ate the cake on their beautiful breakfast terrace. Breakfast the next morning was outstanding , it would turn out to be the best breakfast that we had our entire trip . It was loaded w/ items and everything was incredibly delicious !!! We were sorry to leave and would definitely return to Villa Carlotta .

Area:
Taormina, Italy: A balcony setting on Mount Tauro with a sweeping view of Sicilys coastline and Mount Etna gives Taormina its lasting appeal. It is Sicilys only truly international resort, much-favoured by celebrities. The old quarters steep, narrow alleys are filled with window boxes and painted pottery, and best explored on foot. Main sights are the classical remains and Renaissance palaces. The Greco-Roman theatre is still used for concerts and festivals.
