“Very pleasant stay”
Delightful surroundings, very quite, close to upscale mall. There are different kinds of accommodations--a two-story hotel, and several cabins of differing levels of quality. We stayed in a newly-renovated cabin, which was flawless, but our evaluation might possibly not apply to all parts of the lodging complex

“Affordable, clean and comfortable”
The Carmel River Inn is a very clean, comfortable inn. They provided special treats for our puppy and accomodate dogs well. The grounds are beautiful and we all enjoyed walking them every day.
“Beautiful & clean little room with balcony!”
This was the best hotel room we had on our 3 week long CA road trip. Meaning, for the price, this was the cutest, quietest, cleanest and most spacious of them all. Staff was very friendly.

This is our home-away-from-home when we are on the Peninsula. Could not ask for better service, cleanliness, etc. Return as often as we can.

“Spectacular gardens on this property”
I booked this hotel because of its close proximity to the events that were scheduled for my 30 year high school reunion. I read the reviews posted and felt it was worth the chance due to the mostly favorable opinions. The price was great...especially since we were upgraded to one of the stand alone cottages when we checked in. The cottage had a living room with wood burning fireplace, kitchen, bedroom, bathroom. This is not a fancy resort, it is an older hotel that has been undergoing renovation. I do not require chocolates on a pillow or towels shaped as animals in my room but I do want a comfortable bed and a clean bathroom. It had both. The grounds are stunning...flowers, walking paths, fountains. It is right off of Highway 1 but you do not hear any noise from cars. There is a very nice shopping center directly across the highway and it can be accessed by a path under the bridge...we were able to ride our bikes to most of our destinations. The staff was very helpful and friendly. If you are a "name-dropper" and require a concierge then this place is not going to work for you, but if you are looking for a decent hotel with a very fair price and a great location then this is the place. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Carmel River Inn and will most definitely return.

“Oasis at the coast”
Upon our arrival we got a free upgrade and had a very nice one room King size bed cottage with a very comfortable bathroom and a neat patio. Very quiet place with old trees and all sorts of plants. The pool was not too warm, but ok, extra towels available there. Shopping center and beach pretty close. We will definintely return, when we visit again from Germany! Wtih one exception staff was very friendly and helpful!

I was planning a weekend getaway with my daughter and grandaughter. My daughter could only stay one day so I was looking for something inexpensive for the next day. We chose the Carmel River Inn. I have to say after reading the reviews I wasn't sure what the Inn would be like but decided to go for it! One of the reviews was awful and 2 others were very good. When we got to the Inn we found we had been upgraded to a cottage. It was one of the older ones but it was so comfortable and really clean. We loved the grounds of the Inn and had a really relaxing day and evening. The staff was very caring, calling to see if we needed anything. I don't know if they are renovating or we were upgraded because I have arthritis and asked (on line in special requests) to be given a ground floor room. I will definitely return and check out the rooms in the motel section.
