“Great value”
Great value close to the beach. Just as advertised. Very friendly people.
“The Suites were very nice for the price!!”
We got a Queen Suite, for the Monterey Bay Jazz Festival weekend. These "Suites" seemed to be converted 1 Bedroom apartments. No complaints here. Very roomy for a Motel experience. The appliances were old - but who uses them? We ate out all the time. We got a room on the street, and so was able to watch the deer accross the street for our morning coffee. Very Nice!! The rooms seemed a little musty, but it's on the coast in the fog bank, so that's expected. The shower temperature was a little unpredictable, but that was OK. Internet wireless access was iffy, but found a spot on the bedroom dresser that worked. We needed more towels, and after a call to the front desk, someone was knocking at our door within minutes. We slept in late, and so room service was nice enough to freshen up our room in the afternoon. All in all, a very nice room for the price. Now, this was not a 5* experience: but we weren't staying in the area to enjoy the amnenities of the Suite. We just wanted a place to crash for the MJF. For that, and for the normally lack of rooms during the MJF, and the price, this was great!
“Excellent Room and Value”
I reserved the basic room with King bed and jacuzzi tub and was very impressed with the room that I got. It had a full kitchen (stove, oven, refrig, microwave, sink, etc), large bedroom with couch and chairs, great shower and jacuzzi, all with nice quality and condition. The bed was very comfortable, the lighting in the room could be set for a romantic setting, the decor was pleasant, and everything was clean and in great shape. The hotel is located directly across the street from Asilomar Conference Grounds which made it very convenient to walk to any seminars I wanted to attend. The only weak point was the continental breakfast, which was pretty basic, though it was enough to fill me up. For the price, it was an excellent value.
“Can't wait to return”
Proximity to ocean was fantastic and there were actually deer in the front yard. We walked to the beach, the sunset was spectacular, lots of photos. We will stay there again on our next trip.
“Would love to stay again”
A budget hotel that acts like an expensive resort, a pleaure to stay in, you wont be dissapointed.
“Very nice.”
Nice location, very clean and quiet.
“I will stay here again.”
Nice, very quiet, clean hotel. Easy to get to downtown Monterey. Staff was friendly and helpful. Had a little problem with the fireplace, but certainly didn't need it with the great weather. I visit Monterey/Pacific Grove for a race weekend (at nearby Laguna Seca Raceway) every July and will definitely come back to Door Haven. The actually have live deer close.
“Doesn't look like much from the outside but really nice inside!”
We stayed in the queen suite which turned out to be very spacious (more like a small apartment). Nested in a quiet community, surrounded by pines and a mere mile away from the beach it's the perfect retreat for those of us who need to get away from the city once in a while. It's also only 1/2 mile away from the Pacific Grove gate to the 17-mile drive which gives an easy, if not cheap, access to beautiful Carmel. The staff was extremely helpful. Overall great quality at a very affordable price. Will definitely return.
“Pretty nice stay”
I loved the location of this hotel, very close to the ocean. The rooms, while not very fancy, were quite comfortable and the fire place is a nice touch. Overall, very happy with the stay.
“QUIET AND COMFORTABLE!”
Our wedding party stayed at the Deer Haven Inn for the weekend. We were all impressed by the courteous and helpful service of everyone at the front desk. The rooms were not lavish, but very cozy and comfortable, with queen sized beds and a fireplace. The rooms were clean and the housekeepers were considerate and efficient. There was a potentially stressful situation when the power in the entire Pacific Grove area went off for tro hours. The management handled the crisis well and quickly provided flashlights and candles to the guests. I would definitely recommend the Deer Haven Inn to others.
