“can't wait to come back”
this place was great. can't wait to come back.
“All you could ask for”
Hotel is very nice. Loved the mini kitchen. includes: sink stove, fridge, microwave, dishes and blender. Did not like shower only and no tub. No smoking, although smoking is allowed on the roof and in the back courtyard. Coffee most of the day in building in courtyard. Staff is wonderful although check in is slow. However, you're in the 'Big Easy' and that's the way it's done almost everywhere. Visitors center across the street for maps & info. Streetcar stop right outside hotel door. We didn't bring a car and didn't need it, buses or trolleys will take you anywhere. If you have a car, don't take it to the French Quarter. Congested traffic, high parking fees if you can find parking, and you can walk to anything. There is a market called Zara's two blocks away to do shopping and they have a cookout on Saturdays we recommend. Another market on the corner of block hotel is on, sells the best gumbo (carry-out), recommended by locals and they were right. No maid service as this is a time share and also a hotel. However, if you ask at the desk you can get fresh towels or whatever. Make sure to take the tour offered for the Ashley House behind the hotel. It only takes about 1/2 hour, but is free and a chance to see one of the garden district homes from the inside. Ask at the front desk about the tour. Also, shuttle service to airport available if you ask ahead of time.
“Spectacular experiance at Hotel - New Orleans not so much”
The hotel staff was great! They were very attentive and we were never left wondering about anything. They arranged for all my needs, etc. I would recommend this hotel to ANYONE! There is a deli and grocery store next door - so you can stock your kitchen for your stay. New Orleans however was not what I had expected. Still very run down from the storm - did not feel safe away from the few blocks around the hotel.
“Wonderful, quiet hotel”
This was our first trip to NOLA. The Avenue Plaza was located a little ways away from the French Quarter, but it was a short, fun trolley ride to get to the action. Nice to have some peace and quiet when we wanted it. Restaurants around the hotel were amazing! We walked a lot and felt completely safe the entire time. Wonderful experience!
“Southern Hospitality at its Best!”
We enjoyed our stay at The Avenue Plaza very much. We arrived in town on Wednesday and check in was very easy and every single employee was very friendly. I loved walking in at night with somebody greeting me asking how my evening was....very consistent. Excellent customer service! We were fortunate to get a newly renovated room on the 12th floor. The room was FABULOUS! Super comfy bed, amazing shower and great common room area complete with brand new kitchen appliances, counter tops and cabinets. I was very impressed considering I had no idea they had started renovations and was thinking we were going to get a room like in the photos. It was a great home away from home. The rooftop sundeck offered amazing views of the city and would've been a perfect place to enjoy a morning cup of coffee (if it's not too hot like it was when we were there). I really don't have any complaints about the hotel at all, except there was a closet in our room that was locked. I don't know if there was a water heater or what in there, but randomly during the night the door would start vibrating causing a tedious sound, but it wasn't too bad. If you're a heavy sleeper, you may not even notice it at night. I was very pleased with our experience and would definitely stay here again as well as recommend to anybody traveling down to NOLA. The location is great, you're not in the hustle and bustle of downtown but your just a short cab ride away.
“Excellent hotel”
all the experience was excellent, in especial the room is so comfortable
“Great stay!”
Great stay!
“Close to convention center”
I needed to stay at a hotel close to the convention center. All the "official" hotels for the convention were both expensive and booked. Found this one on Expedia. It is close - about a 5 min cab ride. Nice neighborhood on the trolly route. Found a few good restaurants. I liked the fondue place across the street. The hotel was clean but not fancy. The rooms are large. I got a small suite with a kitchen - nice to be able to cook a few simple meals instead of eating out when away. Front desk staff helpful. I didn't use the concierge service to book any tours, but it looked like several guests were finding it helpful.
“Far Better than expected”
Recently renovated suite with brand new kitchen equipment and bathroom. Very friendly staff. Good facilities although kept losing the internet access in the room! You need to be aware taht the rooms aren't serviced but we paid a very reasonable price for our package.
“Enjoyed it - just prior to Katrina. Will return if possible.”
Enjoyed my stay, including use of the pool and fitness facility. Availability of refrigerator and stove for breakfast a plus. Especially like Garden Didstrict area, St. Charles streetcar line availability and hope that the Hotel will soon return to service.
