Nice hotel & convenient location for the airportPosted Mar 29, 2013
Nice, clean, reasonably priced hotel. Would recommend to someone wanting to stay near the airport for decent value for money.

Good for a basic night's stay close to the airportPosted Nov 8, 2012 on Hotels.com
The hotel was clean and modern. Looks somewhat like a futuristic cow shed from the outside - but that's modern architecture for you. I actually really liked the layout and ambience. This is rated as a Thon Budget hotel but it doesn't feel like you've cheaped out by opting for it. In fact, I only realised that it was truly a budget hotel when there was no kettle, coffee, tea etc., to be found in the rooms. The shuttle bus to the airport arrives frequently. Take the Number 22 from the airport. The journey TO the hotel takes 10 minutes, but on the way back to the airport, the bus stops at several other hotels, making it closer to a 20min ride. Important to keep in mind if you're tight on time for catching a flight. Other than that, it was perfect for a cheap night's stay close to the airport. Would stay there again.
BUDGET. Close to nothingPosted Jun 19, 2012 on Hotels.com
This is a budget hotel. It is for someone who expects nothing. The staff is friendly (most of them). The breakfast is ok for a get you going. You get a clean room with a bed. Everything else, you pay for. Parking, TV, airport trans, Everything! And, don't be fooled as this hotel is much further (approx. 6K) from the airport than you think. They have a following - business travelers who want something cheap with no services. There is food and fuel about half a Kilometer away. I was looking for reasonable, but not that issolated, and before the first night I was going to move, but I decided to stay it out. If you are a lone business traveler and don't watch TV and need no services, it is clean. For that reason it is not a 1 or a 3 but a 2

I was pleasantly surprised by this hotel (except for one thing). At the time of my visit, it offered exceptional value for money compared to downtown hotels. The room was nicely furnished, the wifi was free and worked fine, and the included breakfast offered a remarkable variety compared to most budget hotels. But... how are you going to get here? It's about 5km from the airport. If your idea is to drop your bags here and then head into town, and then come back that night and fly out the next morning, you're going to have to take the airport-to-hotel shuttle bus four times, at 70 kroner each time! That adds up to about $50 per person (and that's on top of the train fare from the airport into town, about 180 kroner ($35) roundtrip on the cheapest train, 340kr ($60) for the express). What about a rental car? Aside from that being wildly expensive in Norway, the hotel will charge you 66 kroner for parking, even though the hotel is in the middle of nowhere (and the lot was nearly empty the whole time I was there). So, unlike with most airport hotels, you really have to include transportation in your "budget" calculations.

a short stay in OsloPosted May 1, 2012 on Hotels.com
The architectural concept of the hotel is weird but they deliver and their breakfast is great. I wish they had a free shuttle to the airport. Friendly staff.

Good sized room for a budget airport hotelPosted Mar 19, 2012
Pros: Some blond cougar babe kept hitting up on me.
Cons: They put out free coffee at night but no cream and sugar. They don't answer their phones. 1 mg of free internet was limiting
Location: A short ride from the airport. If you want to avoid the lines at reception you can take a taxi instead of the bus.
The price was okay, and the room was somewhat spacious for an airport hotel. It's a sprawling 2-story building so there are a lot of rooms and an elevator. Twin beds were narrow but clean and satisfactory. Transportation from the airport was fairly easy, with regular hotel buses. The first bus of the day was 4:30 am and the trip took less than 15 minutes. The bus driver prefers credit cards so no problem about having Norwegian currency. Don't expect the reception to answer the phone, however, even if you call from your room. When you're at the desk you have to ask for the wifi code, because they won't think of telling you otherwise. You get a whopping 1mg for free, which is enough for some email, but I found using Skype problematic on it. They collect a 200 NOK deposit for some reason, probably to prevent people from leaving with the room keys, so you have to leave a few extra minutes in the morning so you can get it back. Overall it's a good place to be able to lie down in a bed. At 4 am they put out some early breakfast stuff so you can get a slice of bread and cheese, and possibly cold cuts depending on the popularity of early breakfast that day.

Thon Hotel--sorry not for us or friendsPosted Mar 9, 2012
Cons: cold and impersonal and limited facilities even for a budget hotel and no evening food available
This hotel did not suit us. Note that this is very much a budget hotel and that we would not recommend to our friends. The hotel is clean and tidy and It is probably ok for business travellers--quick in/out stopovers but totally lacks any atmosphere. Whilst the staff(very few?) were polite their was an air of disinterest in individuals--just check in and check out. There is no restaurant therefore no facilities to eat in the evening after a long journey.---breakfast buffet only so eat before you arrive. Not good for any hotel! Oh, the coffee/tea dispenser is by reception so if you are in one of the rooms furthest from reception the walk to the machine is in the region of 200metres(each way!!)

Clean, comfortable and near airportPosted Mar 4, 2012
Pros: closeness to airport
Cons: Far fron city
Location: A short bus ride from airport 75 Kron
I stayed only one night due to closeness to airport. The building looks like storage or office, but when you enter, the staff was courteous and helpful. My room was very clean and comfortable. Breakfast was good with hot eggs, and lot s to eat. I walked around in snow to nearby park and some shops. MacDonald and other restaurants nearby. Good for overnight stay.

Thon Hotel GardermoenPosted Feb 29, 2012 on Hotels.com
An airport hotel with basic facilities and a ten minute shuttle bus ride from the airport. (50 NOK approx each way) No restaurant on site but it does provide a Pizza delivery service if you are a hungry traveller and arrive late. If you want the full normal facilities of a hotel I would suggest staying in it's sister Thon Hotel which is a ten minute walk away. I would have rated the cleanliness and maintenace higher but for a large rust stain in the shower and a loose sink.
