“Didn't want to leave!!”
Planned a getaway for my husband, an early Christmas present, we were very pleased with the hotel, it was just perfect.
“Very comfortable, elegant hotel.”
I had booked a standard room in September, off-season, for just one night, as we were planning to continue down to Hatteras the next day. We arrived in early evening to a nice person totally organized to check us in in less than 2 minutes! Our room was facing the ocean, first floor. The distance to the actual beach was about 50 feet, but we could hear the waves from our room. It was very tastefully decorated with blues and browns. The room had its own porch accessible through a screened door. We loved lounging on the porch listening to the evening sounds. The bed was extremely comfortable. The bath was nice as well, except for the shower head , which sprayed me in the face for a few minutes before I figured out how to operate it! The next morning we found coffee and tea service immediately outside our room. The art around the hotel is well documented and original--even a print in our bathroom. I felt the designers had a real appreciation for the natural surroundings of the area. The casual restaurant, though having been well-recommended in our travel guide, was not extraordinary, and was rather pricey for the quality of the food. All in all, I would highly recommend this place, especially for the deal we got from Expedia, which was considerably less than the published room rate online.
“Little paradise!”
The Sanderling is a wonderful place to stay, as well a the location as well as the hotel itself. Service and maintenance were on a very high level. We enjoyed our stay very much, it was relaxing as well as exiting (beautiful beach, wild mustangs).
“Wonderful vacation spot!”
Great service, location and amenities
“Loved It!”
Beautiful Hotel & Resort. Incredible private Beaches. Very relaxing atompsphere.
“OUTSTANDING!!!”
We were celebrating our 5 anniversary and,on the suggestion of friends, asked them to put us in the main building. They were very booked and could not accommodate this and put us in the North building. We were in a corner room that was fabulous!!! We had a private deck to sit outside and have our coffee in the mornings, wonderful with views of the dunes. The linens were beautiful, granite countertops, everything was wonderful! Dinner at the Left Bank was very pricey but absolutely great!!!
“A Wonderful, Relaxing Place!”
This hotel was just a wonderful place for my husband and I to get away. The service could not have been better! They could not do enough for you. The restaurant had a wonderful breakfast and dinner menu. We will go back again and again...and stay longer!
“Simple Elegance! Relaxation Guaranteed. Will return again and again.”
We chose to visit off season for a three night stay. We WILL return! The Sanderling combines beach resort charm with upscale amenities. I found everything to be on spot perfect from comfortably furnished common areas, many with fireplaces at this time of year, delicious coffee and tea, and for those of us who are early risers - how delightful to sit in front of the fireplace with a perfect cup of tea with classical music in the background while watching the sunrise over the ocean. Sound like Heaven? Wait till you try the Spa Resort. We opted for the Couples Massage. Yours truly floated away with a fresh glass of cucumber water in hand. The Spa is light and bright with beautiful birch wainscoating, birch lockers, steam, fresh fruit, everything to whisk you away to The Land of Relaxation. Not to mention the View. Sand Dunes, Sea Grass, Ocean and Blue Skies. A must to purchase in the Spa Gift shop - Brown Sugar Scrub. Oh! The restaurants - Divine. Treat yourself to Room Service at least once. The Life Saving Saving Station is casual attire with an excellent menu. The crispy rockfish was perfectly prepared. Attentive service without hovering. The Sanderling Resort and Spa - Comfort, History, Understated Elegance. Enjoy! (One caveat - we stayed in the North Inn. Second Floor. NO elevators)
“Impressed! A++++++”
Great stay...Met and exceeded any and all expectations. Exceptional value. Staff and hotel service quality of customer service is second to none.
“Great Hotel but pricey”
We enjoyed our long weekend at The Sanderling. There are only a couple of lodging options for weekends in that area for 2 people! (everything is a house rental) Sanderling is overpriced so I only go when I find a deal on Expedia. For what you pay, would be nice to get a continental breakfast...Rooms are lovely, comfy, and clean. Staff were great! Will be going back...when I find a deal!
