“great hotel”
Comfy soft beds, choice of pillows, good hot breakfast, convenient location--this place has it all! Best hotel for miles. This place clearly rival the 120 a night upscale hotels in cleanliness, comfort, and friendliness.
“Comfortable Place to Stay”
We've stayed here before, and you can always depend on a nice stay. Since my last trip, they've added eggs, sausage patties and waffles to the free morning breakfast...so that's been a nice compliment to the cereals, muffins, etc. The staff is very accommodating and saw to all our needs in a very timely fashion. Location is central to everything of importance going on in Northfield.
“A good pick for Northfield”
The Northfield Country Inn is a decent hotel in a town with few choices. It is clean and has all the basics--pool, workout room, breakfast, very nice staff. Downside is that it is next to the railroad tracks and twice in the night I was awaken by trains. The breakfast is fairly basic and if you have dietary restrictions, a challenge to find enough choices but they had fruit.
“Very comfortable, good value”
We stayed here while visiting a Carleton College. While not especially new, this hotel is perfectly nice, and restaurants and a drugstore are close by. A predictable continental breakfast was included in the price. Friendly staff, very pleasant room, and very comfortable beds.
“Only if you have no other choices...”
Honestly, I would only stay at the Coutry Inn if I had no other options. Loud, dirty, shop worn, etc. On top of that, the service is atrocious. The woman at the front desk is doing the hotel a serious disservice with the amount of attitude she has whenever a request is made. For example, when I walked up to the desk to check-in, I was greeted with a frown and "What?" as if she could not be bothered. Of course, to be fair, she looked to be browsing the internet at the time. Anyway, this hotel is not good and I would never stay there again.

We would NEVER stay here again. You should take this hotel off your list. Other guests were partying outside our room. Walls paper thin
“So So experience”
We booked on expedia but had trouble checking in and then the key cards weren't activated so we had to go up and down the stairs again to get that sorted out. When we were able to access our room, we opened the door and found the room was not ready for us. The bed was taken apart and we had to go get another room assignment. Hallways and common areas needed vacuuming, there was alot of little particles all over the hall way. We were surprised to find these conditions as we have had good luck in the past with these hotels.
“Rail Yard Shack”
the only reason I give this hotel a .5 is because the bed was fairly comfortable and clean. We were put in back corner room. I should have clued in to the earplugs on the bedside tables. 2am it sounded like a freight train was barreling through our room--train horns, cars banging and screeching. 10 minutes later another one. By 6am five trains had noisily passed. The walls are paper thin, the window cheap. It was a Friday night and all night long until 3am I heard people come in/go out, slamming doors, talking, walking. I did not sleep a wink, had to leave at 9am to attend my brother's funeral. This was the only reason I remained calm that morning-I had more important things on my mind. However, Now I am going to write to the hotel management to let them know that what I paid is a bit much for their shack, I would not stay there again even for $10.
