“A really nice hotel in a bit of a run down neighborhood”
We just stayed at the Regina Opera for 5 nights and really liked it. It is located in a neighborhood that has probably seen better days. However, it is centrally located-within walking distance of 2 metro stops, Bonne Nouvelle and Strasbourg-St. Denis. All the major attractions of Paris are about a 5-8 Euro ride away by taxi, if you want to take one. The rooms are bright and very clean. The bathroom is also very clean and the window opened out onto an inner courtyard which was quiet at night. Breakfast is 11 Euros per person per day, so I'd have breakfast elsewhere, like at Angelina where it is 15 Euros but much better.
“3 stars deserved!”
Great location, Metro, walking. Room 105 very large & quiet. Buffet breakfast worth price. Cybercafe 2 doors away. 1 mile to Opera or Republique. 1 1/2 miles to Canal St. Martin for nice walks,
“Good option for a short stay on a budget”
We booked a double room, but previous hotel bookings meant we were actually upgraded to a triple (#603). Some odd decor in the room (yellow plastic chairs!), but the room was simple, clean, air conditioned and more than adequate for our needs. The location is just off Blvd Bonne Nouvelle, about 20 mins walk from the Gare du Nord, and also the Seine. Nearest metro stops are Bonne Nouvelle and Strasbourg St Denis. If you're going to Paris for a night or two like we were, and don't want to pay top dollar for a hotel room you'll hardly do anything but sleep in, then this hotel is one I'd recommend.
“Well situated, clean, polite helpful service”
I chose this place out of the blue for a weekend trip over from London. It is two Metro stops from Gare du Nord, close to the Rue Mortgeuil pedestrian district, a ten or fifteen minute walk from the Seine. As Paris hotels (for the rest of us) go, it's a find. If a romantic interlude is your goal, this may not be the place: it's very simple and the decor is along the lines of a (slightly beat up) American motel room, but if you're looking for a clean place to sleep and leave your stuff on a Eurostar jaunt, it's great.
“convenient location on a budget”
We stayed here as part of the fight hotlew package, which made the price pretty reasonable. We didn't spend much time in the neighborhood as it wasnt really "quaint", but there were 2 metro stops very close. One, Strausboug/St Denis had 3 lines running through it that let you go pretty much to all the important spots of the city. If you aren't looking for a cute neighborhood, but convenient and budget friendly this is a good hotel.
“A Port in the Storm”
We arrived at Gare du Nord (by train) in the dark on a wet evening. We queued for a taxi. The hotel is located in Rue de Mazagran, a quiet street NOT shown on the various Paris maps available to tourists. The taxi driver did not know the street either, but possibly was not a regular driver as there were strikes taking place in Paris that day. Traffic congestion delayed the journey to the hotel. On arrival we were courteously received and the room was excellent. English was spoken at Reception but we were pleased that the staff understood our French. Breakfast in the morning was also excellent, though a bit pricey. It was good being in a hotel which was quiet, no real street noise at all. Next morning we walked with our cases to Gare du Nord, which took about 15 minutes - not bad! We would definitely stay at this hotel again.
“Nice but Small”
The hotel was right outside the Metro, very convenient. Many restaurants and shops around. Within walking distance of the Gallerie Lafayette. The room was extremely small. The elevator was not working and the stairs were very steep and narrow. The hotel staff was very friendly and helpfull. The hotel will keep your luggage if you check out early but leave the city late.
“Great accommodation close to the metro!”
A nice hotel close to the metro line and located on a quiet road. Helpful staff who spoke excellent English! Our hotel room was on the ground floor of the hotel and was very spacious. Good sized bathroom and plenty of room to move around the living area part of the hotel. Very clean room and hotel. Apparently the hotel is located close to a red light district but we noticed no such thing!!
“an ok hotel for paris”
the hotel is in an ok part of paris, a short walk from metro and 10 minutes walk from one of the main shopping streets. plenty of bars and food joints, if you can afford the price of the beer!!. The staff are extremely helpful and cant be faulted. the rooms are, well, not the nicest i've seen but good enough. Paris isn't a city that you get what you pay for. you get less than you pay for when compared to other locations.
