“Fantastic little find”

This was a great little find. The room was extremely clean and very comfortable to stay in. Our room was in the corner on the top floor and had two windows that could open to create a good cross breeze (we couldn't get the A/C to work). There is an outside patio upstairs with table and chairs that has an incredible view of the bay and entrance to the harbor. A bottle of wine and a nice night...really great. The only downside was a very busy, noisy street below with lots of motor scooters. If your windows are open, sleeping is hard, but they have insulated the windows nicely, so the noise is little if they are closed. We'd absolutely stay there again.

“Well worth it in Sorrento”

A great little hotel that's well worth the money. Off the strip, which is an added bonus, and the rooms are great with nice big bathrooms. Cross the street and walk into the town center. Convenient and quiet (despite the fact it's on a busy street). The walk around the coast to Portofino is an absolute pleasure.

“A nice option for the price”

The Giulio Cesare was a charming hotel for the price. An excellent location within walking distance to ferries and to the beach. Rooms are basic but also clean and air-conditioned. Breakfast is fine, although some further variety would be welcomed. The staff was helpful and kind, yet a basic knowledge of Italian is useful.

“Good hotel for good price”

We were quite pleased with the hotel, especially given it's reasonable price. The location is also quite nice. It is away from the main strip in front of the marina and so is nice and quiet, but is just a few minutes walk to the beach and restaurants.

“Conveniently situated to harbour, town and restaurants”

The only negative comment would be is that the bathroom is very tiny with half a bath. I appreciate that this may be normal in Italy, but the actually size of the bathroom was so small you could hardly move in it. The bath sides were very very high, and I feel someone elderly or not very agile would be unable to get into itl.

“Stayed one night, not too happy”

I picked this hotel for one night while traveling through the cinque terre region. The hotel was clean the staff was helpful and polite. My room was clean and not small at all for a single bed. The negative issues were the bathroom was small. No shower even though they advertise shower. Their idea of a shower is a half size tub with a seat cut out and a hand held shower nozzle. No place to hang the nozzle and no shower curtain. The toilet seemed to be an after thought because it was between the sink and tub. You had to sit sideways to take care of nature. One side hits the sink and the other the tub. Quite comical. The buffet breakfast was terrible, not much of a choice. You had to ask for second helping as they were kind of tight with the food. And not to forget one more thing, they have hotel parking bt limited to about a dozen cars. Not much space for a hotel that has quite a few rooms. If you are unfortunate to miss out on a parking spot you are on your own. I found a spot around the corner on a side street. I got lucky. I suggest you look for another hotel if you have a choice. This hotel is rated a two star and not more than that. I was dissapointed with the basics of the hotel, the shower, parking and buffet breakfast are the worse.

“Unhelpful staff, poor breakfasts”

We had booked a triple room for 3 people and asked the hotel for an extra single room on arrival as I snore. They did so. But it was not cheap and rooms were spartan and basic, though clean. Car parking was the most expensive in any Italian hotel we stayed in (the car park is located under the hotel and it is difficult to manoevre a car). On check out we asked to pay the bill three ways, each by credit card. The owner was totally unhelpful and would only accept two payments, one for each room. The breakfasts were poor - just sweet things and very little savoury - just dairylea-type cheese, no ham or even eggs.
