“Highlight of our trip - and we're picky!”

We're a mixed Dutch/American couple and consider ourselves fortunate as experienced and fairly spoiled euro travelers. We have nothing but praise for the Markusturm. This hotel is great and worthy of the name "Romantik": wonderful building, setting and location; we had a very large and comfortable room with a poster bed with a headboard inscription from 1779 - yet super comfortable with great mattress and duvets - yet with an ultra-modern bathroom. Hotel and staff were just charming all around, from the hospitable night receptionist offering to park our car upon our delayed mdnight arrival (and offer me, the tired driver, a nice cold beer despite the official bar being closed), to the beautiful breakfast room and morning staff suggesting places to walk to and allowing extra check-out time. We loved this one, best of our 2 week Euro swing, and hope to be back one year.

“Christmas Magic!”

OMG! This hotel was a delight, and a dream! We stayed just before Christmas, and the markets and town were like a picture postcard! Soft snow falling when we arrived, and the building was delightful. Staff were happy, helpful and attentive for whatever we needed. Porter and reception were amazing! Our room was set up for 4 people (as requested) when we arrived, and was enormous by Europe standards. The bathroom was deluxe, and everything was incredibly comfortable! Looking out of windows from this hotel, every angle was shingled rooftops and cobbled streets. Inside the hotel was beautifully decorated everywhere we looked! AMAZING stay! Loved this place!!!!

“Two night is not long enough in Rothenburg”

Why anyone would have anything bad to say about this hotel is beyond me. We just visited Rothenburg during our 1 year anniversary trip. We stayed 4 different hotels during our trip across Germany, and the Romantik Hotel Markusturm was by far the best! The staff all speak English very well. Check-in was a breeze and they even gave us a choice of rooms. We ended up with a beautiful room with a large, canopy bed and a huge bathroom. After checking in, the woman at the desk was very helpful guiding us to a restaurant for dinner. Her recommendation was excellent. The next morning at breakfast, the staff was once again very thorough and attentive. The breakfast buffet is okay and very similar to what we received elsewhere. We did have dinner at the hotel the second night and it was by far the BEST meal we had in all of Germany! The soup, the entree and the dessert was delicious!! The hotel is beautiful with such charm! When we travel back to Rothenberg, we will not hestitate to stay at the Romantik Hotel Markusturm again!

“Delightful stay at Hotel Markusturm”

The hotel exterior was as picturesque as could be and quite warm and cozy inside. The staff was welcoming and helpful and the location superb. The restaurant was also quite good, with an elegant and comfortable dining room and a menu of German specialties. My waitress at dinner was a very charming young woman who spoke excellent English. Before going to bed, I opened the window in my room and looked out at the quiet, snowy cobblestone street and felt like I had been carried away to an enchanted village straight out of Grimm's Fairy Tales. Quite an extraordinary experience! I hope to return someday.

“Very happy with hotel”

Excellent location (right in the centre of the village), good service, loved the food in the restaurant, large and tidy room. Only criticism is that the room smelt of cigarette smoke even though we asked for non-smoking. Overall very happy with this hotel. Would go back.
