Only that some chalets were quite a long walk uphill to get to them so you needed to be fit but otherwise a lovely place to stay and staff so helpful and couldn’t do enough for you

Wonderful stay at SFE Resort. Nice cabins with Eco style set up. Very friendly and helpful staff. Cose proximity to the Orangatans and Sun Bears. Breakfast fair/okay, whilst dinner options better. Would recommend.

Our recent stay was fabulous. The staff could not do enough to make us comfortable. It was great that the restaurant opened on our first day thus making everything so convenient. Food was superb. Super high ratings from us!

It was a nice place, but not high end. Wifi was bad. People were very nice. Far from things except two attractions. They wanted to add a significant fee upon check in for a third person even though we booked for three. They graciously did not charge us after a discussion.

A great place to stay with loads to do.
Lovely place to stay near the rehabilitation centres and the rainforest discovery centre. Friendly staff. Good food. Great quality accommodation away from the hustle and bustle of a town. Highly recommend

Great location and beautiful property
Very friendly and accommodating staff, beautiful location. There were two issues, firstly the bed was uncomfortable, however when we brought it to their attention they quickly offered us another chalet and secondly the pool that is advertised is just a wading pool. In general we found it overpriced for what you got.

Not really recommended
The location is good, the food and service at their cafe are excellent. However, despite emailing them 6 weeks earlier to specify that we want a room nearest to the entrance of the resort, the staff claim that they did not have my booking. We were given a room with a leaking roof, making the bed wet.The bed was too small for 2 people. We slept very very poorly as a result. The path to our room was poorly lit and muddy, slippery. Although I enjoyed the food at the resort, I will not recommend this place as it is a gamble with the rooms. You do not know the condition of your room until you arrive.

Amazing Little Paradise in the Jungle
I booked this property because the location as is was close to the Sepilok Orangutan Rehabilitation Center and I did not read anything else about this Resort. When I arrived I could not believe what I was seeing . The place was like a Paradise in the middle of the Rainforest. So green and so beautiful!! You can spend at least an hour walking around some paths and trails with amazing landscaping, natural ponds and swimming pools. The cabins are away from each and surrounded by trees and plants so one can not have more privacy. The rooms well furnished, comfortable bed, good air conditioner, coffee maker, complimentary water and a nice large balcony with a coffee table with chairs. The room was cleaned meticulously every day to the last detail. The bathroom with all the amenities, clean towels that looked like new, hot water and two showers ( one also outdoor) The Breakfast Buffet (included in the rate) was excellent. Fresh juice and fruit, coffee, tea, toast, cakes, and eggs with other items cooked to order. The Restaurant open from early in the morning until 10:30 pm, it is very large, with indoor and outdoor tables, amazing view and the menu with good selections and very reasonably priced. I dined everyday and I was never disappointed. The staff was more than polite and friendly. Always smiling, they went out of their way trying to help me with my many questions. Thank you to the managers and owners for having so a nice place. They made my stay one hard to forget.

Beautiful cabin equipped with air con. Very clean and the enclosed outdoor shower is great too. However, the last cabin was kind eerie as it was next to the forest and wild vegetation and the whole place was quiet because of the few quests.Staff was friendly and helpful. The atmosphere was peaceful and relaxing.Very near to the Orang Utan sanctuary.

Wish I had stayed longer!
I stayed at Sepilok Forest Edge Resort on both the front and back end of my Sabah wildlife photography trip and found it to be exceptional. I'm not one to give complements freely and have traveled extensively. The outstanding staff, beautiful rooms, superior food and extensive grounds make this place an exceptional value. Would very highly suggest you stay here if in Sepilok for one or several nights. My review might sound boring but you will love this place!!!

I couldn’t have been happier to have picked this stay while I took time to settle and work a little. This was my first experience staying in a dorm room that co-existed within a resort and what a lovely bonus! While the restaurant wi-fi was tempermental, the staff, facility and service made up for it all. Thank you for making me feel part of the family!

Forest Luxury Resort
We stayed 1 night at Gomantong villa. Its very spacious and enough for 5 of us. I like the environment and feeling living in the jungle and also it luxurious decoration. Breakfast is also good. I don’t have much time to spend our time here. I will stay couple of days here if i have chance to come here again. Location, is not to far from main attraction Sepilok Orang Utan rehabilitations centre and Sub Bear rehabilitations centre. Only 10-15 minutes walking. Not a big deal. There are few resort nearer than this resort. Don’t know about others.

A little disappointing
The best part about this hotel is the restaurants, the staff there are excellent and the food is extremely good. However everything else wasn’t quite right. The room was basic as expected but it wasn’t clean. There was an old soap bar left in the bathroom, smelly cushions left on the bed and one single, very flat pillow. Small things like the cleanliness of the room, pool towels that looked like old (dirty) rags and no support or suggestions about what’s best to do in the local area could be easily improved. We had a nice stay here but left feeling disappointed following very positive reviews we had read online.

Fantastic stay
This place is amazing! Just 10 mins walk to orangutan sanctuary and sun bears. We stayed in a lodge - great views and additional outside shower and toilet off one of the bedrooms was a great experience😀 staff very friendly and go out of their way to accommodate you. We stayed 5 nights after doing a 10 day hiking trip so was nice and relaxing. Accessible for trip into sandakan city as well. Food excellent. Only downside is WiFi can be slow and only acessible at communal areas. Would highly recommend forest edge resort

Beautiful lodge close to the orangutan sanctuary
We had lovely time at Sepilok Forest Edge Lodge. Our chalet was spacious and comfortable, with good air conditioning. Food at the restaurant was very tasty and the small plunge pool was a nice place to relax in after a hot day. Staff were attentive and efficient. The surroundings are beautiful. Location is ideal for visiting the Sepilok orangutan sanctuary and sunbear conservation center - just a short walk from the lodge. A great place to stay in Sepilok.

Fun place to stay in Sepilok!
This is a fun place with lots of paths, a little pool, wonderful dining deck, and good food. Our cabin could have used some updating but was ok. The staff was very lovely and helpful. There were a lot of birds around and we would have gladly stayed another day.

Fantastic chalets - lovely fun bathrooms!
We loved our stay in the chalet - the bathrooms are fantastic with fun open channels for the running water, and outdoor rain showers (+ indoor as well, if you don't want to be outside). Lovely staff, lovely relaxing restaurant area. A little walk from the conservation centres (which some people may not like). The team were also so helpful in arranging our Kinabatangan trip. Thank you guys for a memorable stay.

Excellent location. Very comfortable room with nice balcony. Each room is a little separate chalet with good privacy. Well kept garden with nice swimming pool. Very good place to relax and unwind after being in the rainforest. Great staff and nice restaurant with a good chef. Well kept surrounds and very obviously well maintained property. Would go back

Nice Hotel, Great Staff and Location
We checked in and we could not go to our room because the prior occupant still had the room key. That was okay because they gave us welcome drink coupons for the resturant. The welcome drink was cool and refreshing, the day was hot and humid. We finished our drink and still we could not get into our room. Ninety minutes later the front desk girl retrieved us and took us to our room. Our room was in the back of the property down a steep and slippery path. The path is marked slippery, but there were no hand rails. I was uncomfortable walking down the path, in the dark when it was raining. I am an older person with back problems and I was afraid I would slip. I am sure the young people that stayed there would not have this issue. We were there three nights and never had hot water for a shower. We told the front desk about the water and to their credit they did check that the hot water light turned on. The room included breakfast with made to order eggs. The eggs were good, but the rest of the breakfast buffet looked a little sad. We had dinner and nightly drinks there and that was always good. Staff was always friendly and accommodating as best they could.

Mum and I stayed here to be able to walk to the Orang-utan and Sun bears sanctuaries. Both are a 15 minute walk away. The cabin was lovely, clean, air-conditioning and super comfy. We loved sitting on the balcony listening to their wild life. Staff were friendly, food was excellent and we would highly recommend.

Perfect location
I stayed in the dorm rooms, the "lock" on the door was a bar through holes which meant that you couldn't shut the door from the inside until everyone was in the room otherwise anyone outside would be locked out. Also, there ladder up to the top bunk really hurt my feet. Other than this the room was exactly what was needed with the lovely addition of lockers with plug sockets in so you could leave things safely charging when youre not in the room. Food was good at the restaurant although a little expensive. Staff were wonderful and friendly. Location is perfect for walking to see the orangutans and sun bears.

Fantastic experience, the lodge is right on the edge of the forest and walking distance to the orang utan and sun bear sancturies. The surrounding area was nicely landscaped with lovely trees and flowers and it was wonderful to hear the sounds of the jungle from the cabin at night. The staff were very friendly and welcoming and efficient. The food was delicious too. We thought it excellent value for money.
