Great location a block away from Odori Park. Underground walkway was close by for shopping and eating when the weather was too wet/cold. The hotel itself is old, but the service was great for the price I paid. One of the staff spoke English really well, a nice Japanese lady named Kyoko. I had the Japanese style room, and it was great to experience staying in such a room. All the places and things I wanted to do was walking distance from this hotel. Wifi was free and trouble free to connect. I'd definitely come back here!
During our stay, I happened to meet only one staff, the owner lady, who was very helpful and also speaks English fluently. We stayed in triple bed Japanese style room and it was very comfortable. We really liked the Japanese tea table and the Japanese chairs and also the terrace which was another goodplace for relaxation, overlooking Odori St. (We were there in February and the Sapporo snow festival can be seen clearly). It is in walkable distance from Sapporo JR station but the closest station is the Odori Subway station.
The lady at the front counter was very helpful, warm and welcoming. Nothing was too much trouble and she provided very good advice to get around Sapporo.
The location was perfect for visiting the Sapporo Ice Festival
We stayed for six nights during the Sapporo snow festival and had a blast. The Nakatono is just a minutes walk from the festivities. On top of that their receptionist speaks amazingly fluent English compared to many other hotels that claim to have English speaking staff. We stayed in a western style room, although I believe that many of the rooms are Japanese style. The room was very spacious and the decor made it feel luxurious, like something out of a movie from the 50s. Very comfortable and a terrific stay!
Perfect location for enjoying the Sapporo snow festival with Odori park less than a minute away and Susukino not far either. The most friendly hotel staff I have ever interacted with. Would absolutely stay here again.
