The room cleaning team did not change the yukata used by the previous guest. I found tissue paper in the inside pocket. It was disgusting.

A huge but clean and well maintained property. The dinner and breakfast buffets were well stocked with varieties, quantities and quality to please most palates. The onsen is big and the outdoor pool offers a panoramic sea view. The view of the sunset is especially mesmerizing. Don’t miss it.

The staff of the hotel was more than perfect: we arrived in an awful rainstorm, and they sent us a shuttle, so we didn’t have to go up to the entrance. In another event, someone at the lobby helped me navigate a Japanese only website to get a reservation for a bus service. The hotel is on a hill, and the upwards road is around 20 minutes from the bus central. It’s much - much! - easier if you have a car. It can be grueling if you have big bags or if you spent the day hiking. The hotel itself is elegant and enormous. I didn’t use the onsen, but people seemed to love it. There is a laundry room, an arcade and a massage room, and also a store inside the hotel where you can buy snacks, souvenirs and drinks. The breakfast and dinner was fantastic buffet style event. They had great varieties of both western and Japanese style foods, plus desserts, soups and everything in between. Seriously, this was the best hotel dining we’ve ever had in Japan! The rooms were big (enormous even) and sunny, the bathroom was very nice and of course everything was very clean. One of my favourite stays in Japan, ever. (again: it’s much better if you have a car, and you don’t have to climb the roads after a full day of hiking.)

Beautiful location, very large hotel , large room, huge windows with amazing view. I did not eat at the restaurant but used the large hot springs and enjoyed the many pools. The problem is that the hotel smells bad with musty carpets, elevators smell like smoke , the room carpet was very old and stained and the toilet room smelled horrible. The hotel is in desperate need of renovations and new carpets. It is so huge that it feels uncomfortable and unwelcoming.

We especially would like to thank the front reception staff by the name of Lee. Lee-san has been a great help to us and she has made our check in at the hotel extremely easy and smooth. Thanks for sharing with us some of the valuable information about the national park which have save us some time and hassle. She is definitely a keeper. The room is spacious, bright and clean. However, the private onsen is old and rusty. The sink, faucet, metal handle bars and anything metal around the onsen is corroding pretty badly. I turned the faucet handle on the faucet and my hand smelled like rust even after washing it. There is also rust on the tile floor. The private onsen needs full renovation and shouldn't be used by anyone in these conditions.

The room size is generous. However, if you book in winter and the weather is not good, especially windy days, and your room is facing the ocean, the sound/noise of waves and tides are too penetrating. Breakfast and dinner are buffet style with generous spread. However, I feel the heating is not good and the food are mostly not warm, especially for dinner. The location is on a small hill/slope and not very convenient to walk around. It’s better to come with self-driving/car. The town is small.

The dinner buffet is amazing. There are also so many kind of sweets which i have never seen before. The large public bath made with jade stone from Myanmar is absolutely clean, large, comfortable and mysterious. The room with all furnitures and electric appliances i stayed is brand-new. The one thing I was disappointed about was one of bed in the room was too small(narrow width) which make me not sleep well. The check out time is 10:00am which was a little bit early for me.

Very large hotel. Very helpful staff. On checkout day there had been heavy snow the nightmare whihc might have prevented me getting to the aiport. Staff were on top of situation and had already offered an extra night at a discounted rate if I was unable to depart as planned. In the end it wasnt needed but I was allowed to delay my check out time. Also helpful with sending diving gear ahead of check in

The onsen was wonderful. The hotel provided different onsen experiences that guest could choose from and the onsen area was very spacious. We also enjoyed the food selection offered at the Viking dinner and breakfast. I would highly recommend purchasing the dinner. It’s something you don’t want to miss.

Good Hotel if price is cheap.
Went for Draft Ice walk. After that, went to their nature center. A small town with not much attraction. Hotel services and conditions still considered good.

A great base to explore Shiretoko from. We had a car, there is free parking for guests. Situated on a hill overlooking the rest of Utoro, it'd be a slight trek for anyone without car. But because of its height, you can see the sunset from the hotel lobby and onsen. The breakfast hall has ocean views too. Our room in the newer Shizen building was perfect--tatami floors, ryokan-style decor, western beds. Chose this part of the hotel as it's all non-smoking too. The public baths was literally an onsen theme park--personal favourite. Breakfast n dinner buffets were varied and the dining halls were spacious. Just note that in the late morning/early afternoons in between check-out n check-in time, the lobby is dimmed and no hotel staff are around to service you, even if you're lugging lots of things. You can deposit your luggage first and check-in later though.

Good place to base for exploring the local area. Buffet type dining with 100s of other guests - some may not enjoy this but there is an option for a more private dinner. Bathing areas are very nice and probably the best feature of the hotel.

Great hotel but a bit out of town but within walking distance. We took the Dinner and breakfast package and was not disappointed especially the dinner!! Glad we did!! Good spread and good quality food especially the snow crab legs, freshest sashimi we ever had and also the tempura was the best I've ever taken. Thought the sashimi quality was good in Australia but compare to this - it's nowhere near it! any fresher and it will have to come straight out of the sea/fish! Highly recommendable if you love FOOD!

The hotel lobby was huge. Room size was decent with ocean views. Huge range of options for dinner buffet and breakfast. Onsen venue one of the biggest I’ve seen. Staff helpful but speaks little English. Plenty of vending machines, shopping opportunities inside the hotel. It was an impressive stay for 2 nights and will certainly come back again.

The hotel is in a quiet location far from centre. I went in winter so many restaurant r closed, nothing to do at night except onsen. They provide transportation to the winter event, but I was disappointed the Shiretoko Fantasy was replaced by the blue n green event.. I actually stay there to see it.. But this yr it change. N the green n blue event was not even worth the time to see it. Food wise, they do have very large selection of food.. But I dun really like it.. I find it kind of junk food with a bit of jap n western style mix.. The way they display the food, not attractive.

Great hotel!
It was a great stay! Even though the location is inaccessible via public transport, there were many activities to do within the hotel itself. The onsen was very well maintained, the hotel room was huge and comfortable and the dinner reception was simply amazing, with a huge variety of food to choose from! Overall very satisfied with this hotel stay.

Our room had a beautiful ocean view and was very clean. Staff was super nice and friendly. They gave exceptional service. Buffet restaurant was huge and had everything. We had such a great time. If you are looking for a place which has both old traditional and modern Japanese hotel, I strongly recommend this hotel.
