“Enjoyable stay”
Stayed two nights b+b. Had dinner on our first night at the hotel, food was lovely and not too expensive. Breakfast was very good ,buffet style with lots of choice and a free newspaper to read as well.Staff were very attentive, and helpful with local knowledge.
“Very Good”
I have used this hotel before, about 2 years ago and it was good then. A lot of work has been done in the meantime and the level of service, standard of rooms, leisure centre and other public areas is outstanding.
“Very impressed and would certainly go back.”
The accommodation was excellent. A good breakfast was provided which set us up for the day. The gym and swimming pool were very good. Everything was spotlessly clean. All the staff we had contact with were very helpful and very friendly.
“Nice golfing hotel”
What lets this hotel down is the boring menu which is quite pricey.
“Nice little place but...”
Still a little work to do. They've spent lot of money refurbishing however they're not quite there yet. Little things for example that our 'feature' room didn't have a bath, only a (very nice) shower. The rooms are nice and clean and quite modern. Little niggles were that the Pay TV wasn't iniitally working but was fixed an hour or so after we raised it to reception. Also in the restaurant the food was reasonable but the staff need a little training with the champagne we enjoyed being initially served in the RED wine glasses (fair play to the waitress she managed to get almost all of the bottle in the first two glasses which was obviously to save time later...) All in all a nice place to stay but don't be afraid to ask if anything isn't working or being done the way you want.
“QHotel”
Very good hotel, clean and modern but not too sure about the housing estate you need to drive though. Great for visiting Ironbridge etc.
“Disappointed!”
This is not what I would consider a 4 star hotel. Room service charged extra to the prices advertised, resulting in a very overpriced dry cheese sandwich! Breakfast was not well staffed! I had to wait 5 mins to be seated. Using the pool, the towels were left lying on the changing room floor, no bins provided. I would not recommend this hotel as 4 star!
“not the place for more than one night !!!!”
Do not stay here if you are seeking a quiet retreat with facilities to relax and unwind. The leisure facilities are more like a sports club. Swimming lessons and aerobics lessons going on and the noise is deafening!! No loungers in the pool are ( not that you would want to stay around). The eating arrangements in the Gorge bar are simply rediculous as food is served on wooden platters. Not easy eating pise with gravy!!! and the food took ages to arrive. The breakfast dining was not up to standard as the staff appeared to only want to do what they wanted rather than having designated order instructed by a manager. Each morning we had something missing off our table, cruet, knives, plates etc and they were merely obtained from another table!!!. The doors fitted to the bedrooms are fire doors which slam easy, therefore this was a constant nuiscence and sounded like cell block H every night. We had no TV reception for the majority of our stay (5) nights which seems to have been a constant problem the hotel experienced. Twice we had towels missing, the corner bracket of a glass shelf in the bathroom fell out , so removed. All in all the hotel is best suited to business people and conferences, of which there were many. Not suitable for a short break at all. We have stayed in better 3* hotels. Someone needs to get the management by the neck and get it sorted as they will lose any chance of tourists returning to what is otherwise a beautifull county. Will never go back here
“Work to do”
The refurbishment of the building was extremely well done but unfortunately this was not matched by the service and food. The reception was indifferent and the restaurant was very unsatisfactory. The claims of great food were not realised and the staff didn't appear to have had much, if any, training. There was little evidence of anyone supervising the restaurant so breakfast buffet food ran out and generally people were kept waiting. Either side of us people had to send food back and another gentleman had to ask if his order could be taken after a long wait. My Sea Bass was tasteless and my wife's meat was dried out. The manager just agreed with my comments when I spoke to him! ... and we still had to pay for the meal!!!!!
“a very tired hotel”
good position but badly neglected over the years, it appears - particularly the lesisure facilities. Much equipment / facilities 'out of order'or broken down (e.g steam room, showers, water fountain etc)Cafe never opens, staff overstretched and dispirited. Billing system appalling causing long delays and confusion - 20 people queuing for checkout on Sunday morning - only 1 person on duty! Menu in brasserie very limited
