9.2/10 Wonderful! (193 reviews)
This small(15 rooms/suites) hotel is located on the edge of the caldera, with spectacular views. The rooms are comfortable and decorated appropriately (secularly) for a beautifully converted former religious residence.
The included in-room full breakfast was excellent; and was an especially enjoyable way to take in the unobstructed view from the private terrace.
The staff is attentive, and had good advice on things to do and places to dine all over the island. They added a lot to our enjoyment of our stay.
One caution: there are steps to climb to get to most rooms; and the short walk to the shops and restaurants of Thira includes a bit of a climb (but not too much for a couple of 70 non-atheletes). Taxis do not pull up to the hotel, due to restricted access to the edge of the caldera. (Not to worry about hauling luggage — the hotel staff cheerfully attended to that chore, and getting it to and from taxis.)
We loved our stay Aigialos, and recommend it enthusiastically.
