“Lovely hotel”
The Excelsior offers a wonderful balance for a trip to venice. Don't worry that it seems you are away from venice centre it is a lovely respite from the busyness. The hotel boat service across to Venice is very romantic if you time it with a sunset. We enjoyed the balance of bustling venice with having rest days by the hotel pool and on the beach and eating breakfast everyday overlooking the beach was a real treat. Our room was excellent - we did ask about a seaview room but it was too expensive to upgrade, we ended up being really happy with our room (547) as it was a much better view over Venice.

The Hotel Excelsior was a wonderful way to start our Italian holiday. The staff were extremely helpful and provided advice and guidance on the best way to meet our needs. The Hotels free shuttle service between Lido island and Venice made the visits back and forwards extremely easy and pleasant. Overall just a great service and loved the experience. Thank You!!

A great experince altogether. It is set in a very peaceful surroundings away from the crowds and yet so accessible by a great shuttle service via very nice hotel shuttle boats. Best of both worlds.

“one of the loveliest hotels in Venice”
The hotel was magnificent, and we got a beautiful room overlooking the Adriatic Sea. Probably thanks to a hint from Expedia, they put a bowl of fruit and a bottle of Prosecco to welcome us in our room (we were celebrating our 30th wedding anniversary). Thanks Excelsior, and thanks Expedia - it was a lovely surprise and set us up for a great stay.
“A beautiful hotel. Professional service, serene, and excellent views of the Adriatic.”
This is a very impressive hotel indeed, with incredible views of the Adriatic. The rooms are very well equipped, and the entire hotel spotlessly clean. Our stay included a high-standard buffet breakfast, which was served up to 10.30am - very civilised for those who value their lie-ins, like us! There is also a complementary water-bus service (provided free of charge), which taxis guests to / from St Mark's Square. This service also runs until late in the evening, which gives you the opportunity to eat on the main Island of Venice and enjoy a few drinks before journeying home for the night. The hotel is not cheap, and there are no doubt more cost-effective ways of seeing Venice. However, if you are looking to treat yourself, it's well worth saving up and seeing the city in style.
“Hotel Excelsior Lido June 2009”
This was a very comfortable and and quiet hotel. It made a really nice escape from the hustle and bustle of the centre of Venice. The complimentary shuttle taxi direct to the hotel from St Marks square was welcome after a few ours trekking the streets and allies of Venice. The pool was very welcoming on a hot day. Unfortunately we didn't have time to enjoy the private beach.
“A fantastic hotel”
A beautiful hotel in a beautiful location, it is steeped in history with many famous visitors over its 100 years existance. Staying on the Lido was an added adventure as we were able to travel into Venice everyday courtesy of the Hotels private boats. Despite visiting in October the beach was beautiful, it was great to watch the surfers every morning whilst eating breakfast. Only down side was that no-one had warned me that I would need to protect myself against mosquitoes who were very much alive, kicking and biting in October. Concierge and all staff couldn't do enough to help us. it was an amazing trip and the hotel added to the magic of Venice

Our one week vacation in Venice was perfect. The Excelsior Hotel made our stay perfect. A palace like hotel, with a gracious & accommodating staff. Free Gourmet breakfast every morning. Free luxury water taxi back & forth to Venice. The town of Lido Beach was a charming & friendly town with many restaurants & shops.
“Can't wait to go back”
I spent one week at the Excelsior and had a delightful time. The approach to the hotel via the hotels private dock is picturesque. Having complementary boat service to San Marco, almost every hour, every day makes a stay on Lido a good choice. The breakfast buffet located on the beach behind the cabanas is very good and includes a wide choice of fresh fruits, eggs, pancakes, baked goods and esspresso or whatever you choose to drink, including Pressco. The hotel staff is very helpful and responsive. The staff changes towels twice a day and cleans up the room. Many rooms have fabric covered walls with a Moorish theme. 1/4 of the hotel borders a street, which I would not recommend as there are noisy motor bikes well into the night. The other 3 sides are very nice with either views of a garden or the beach. There is also a bar with a beautiful terrace that looks out over the Adriatic Sea. We had supper at the restaurant one evening, it was good but not great. For instance we ordered sword fish and were served something else. In summary it is an exceptional 100 year old hotel that has been well cared for and is an easy boat ride from the crowds in Venice.
