"The most important reason you should stay at the historic Smithfield Inn is because George Washington slept there. Second the staff’s hospitality is amazing, good people work at the Inn. Third there are few places to enjoy eating there. Overall I would not mind living in this beautiful town. Smithfield Inn best place to stay and rest. "

"Loved the room-spacious and relaxing. The view of the water are phenomenal. Check-in was rough. We were never notified tgat we had to contact the property in advance to put down a deposit and get access codes. Internet connectivity in the area is very poor, and the location's wi-fi was spotty. Generally, check-in was a huge hassle that could have been avoided with some prior notification."

"We were greeted by the owner…she very graciously showed us around the hotel and gave us a room with a view of the New River. She was very welcoming. The 1902 building has been beautifully restored. The room was great…as a side note, she told us that they would be opening a steakhouse in town in a couple of weeks. The space worked very well for us as a couple. Note that they have rooms and dining options available for scheduling an event for friends and family."

"The people were really friendly and helpful, the room was perfect, and the breakfast was great. The location near the Blue Ridge Parkway was good too"

"The pictures show it as a flowery place to stay, lots of blooming plants. Going in early spring those flowers haven't bloomed yet so I was a little disappointed but understood. The closeness of all the houses was neat however you have to drive a bit to find gas and food if you don't make a reservation at the Water Wheel. Living in a city this was a big change for me. I would have like to have more insight on what other locations were good for visiting for lunch or dinner."

"Historic home with recent updates. Many nice amenities set this home apart. A pool, hiking trail, swing, multiple firepits, a freezer with ice cream! Our room #4 was very nice and comfortable but the bathroom is a little small. They had a coffee bar with probably 30 different kinds of coffee. "

"I had a super chill fun stay. It was a fly by destination for me on my way to Charlotte, NC. I got there early so I had a chance to explore the park and river that are super close. The place was clean. The room was big and the staff was very helpful and friendly."

"I didn’t exactly like the advertised king bed that were actually two beds put together with a crack going down the middle. Very uncomfortable sleeping arrangement. "

"Loved the restaurant and bar within the property as it is next to a river and has outside seating. The ducks will keep you entertained, lol! Our room was very small and first room off the elevator. We heard plenty of late night conversations after hours. There was a noise machine available at the bedside and a very nice touch. I couldn’t get the tv to work for the life of me and didn’t call to the front desk to fix bc it was already very when I tried it. Our room had a bathroom with a...

"Checking in had a little hiccup due to the pin pad. WiFi was nonexistent and was a little disappointing in the evening when we returned and weren’t able to communicate. Good location and the cabin room was a pleasant stay. Nice area to walk the creek. Would recommend the WiFi fix and stocked firewood would be nice. "

"Lovely respite. Comfortable cottage with three beds (two bedrooms) and one bathroom, plus view of a picturesque pastoral scene: a field of green grass, white fence, a friendly dog who politely asks to play ball if you like (and leaves you alone if you don’t), and the occasional mooing of the cows in the distance.
