“Beautiful location and a wonderful hotel”

I found the staff very helpful and willing to help you. The room we had in the hotel had fantasitic views of the canal and the sea, so you could see all the comings and goings of a busy little harbour.The hotel was beautifully decorated and very clean.The food was excellent also giving you chance to try something norwegian.I would highly reccomend this hotel.

“Fun part of town”

Scenic and near nightlife and best restaurants. Simple but helpful and well equiped for service. Value for Money is good SAS Pilots stay there.

“Not recommended.”

Communication with English speaking guests is limited and we missed getting our internet password until almost check out time. The bed was not comfortable and the pillows were terrible. TV is limited unless you want to pay for a movie and no tea or coffee in the room, but can be purchased in the foyer. Not a comfort stop but a practical place from which to discover the beautiful Alesund.

“Scandic Alesund below average”

Scandic alesund presented as a poorly run unloved asset of a corporate owner. The location is good. Bedroom size is average, ensuite fairly small. Bathroom floor is raised about 100mm or 4 inches above bedroom floor, which presents as a tripping hazard. The hotel was very busy on day of arrival. Only 1 girl on reception. Took 30 minsutes to check in. No porters. Took bagsup to rooms. Corridors very worn, carpet poor. Got into room, electronic door ok. Was getting changed & in barged another customer. They had been given same coded key. Went downstairs to bar to have a drink. Only 1 barman to serve a whole restaurant, & he was flat out . One waitress on duty for whole restaurant. Got seated. Looked at menu. Unappetizing. Waited about another 30 minutes, no drink, or meal order taken so left and went to snit ether restaurant. Had a nice meal, responsive service. Next morning went to check out. Again very busy. Pile of key cards on desk. I culdnt hang round so just threw my keys on counter @ left. I won't be back to another scandic hotel.
