"Overall considering Brussels high prices this is a good value option, with some issues. The main ones being their check-in and checkouts policy. They only allow you to check-in very late and if you want to actually meet somebody within a tight 2 hour window. I think they might have the option to check in without concierge but that's a risk and I have had bad experiences in the past with other properties. Facilities are a bit dated especially the bathroom and bed had a mattress too thin and soft...

"Difficult to understand how people have left 5 star reviews for this property. The view out the window is nice but sadly the moment you turn around you see a shabby room which doesn’t seem particularly clean. The owner was friendly but in truth I couldn’t recommend this hotel to anyone."

"Let’s start with the pros: -rooms were clean and tidy. -pool and spa facilities (all outdoor) were a lovely welcome addition and access was easy and until 10pm. -evening food in the restaurant was nice. Cons: -my biggest issue with this hotel is health and hygiene. The breakfast was quite frankly inedible as the young lady doing breakfast service had left most things uncovered. Flies had literally swarmed the pastries, bread, jams and juices meaning that my breakfast options were very limited...

"I stayed here one night when we were doing WWI battlefield tours. This was a wonderful find. So much world war one memorabilia. The rooms were simple but comfortable. Shared bathrooms were clean and quite private. The grounds and the home are just beautiful. Very much in keeping with the theme of our trip. Highly recommend it. "

"Clean, spacious, quiet, comfortable, beautifuly decorated rooms with great bed linens and bath products. The host, Kurt, is so gracious and helpful with tips on things to see and places to eat. The breakfast was absolutely delicious! We could not eat breakfast the second day because of our flight time and Kurt made us breakfast to go and left it in the fridge for us. Everything is so well designed and thoughtfully arranged. Truly a 5 star place to stay! "

"I was not expecting a code-style reception at "A Flemish Tale. To me, an in-person reception check-in is essential for a traveler overseas like me. Thankfully, I was waiting downstairs at least 2 hours before my "check-in time" at 3:00 p.m., so that I was able to meet, totally by chance, the lady in charge at the entrance. But for this, I would not have been able to get my access code. Imagine how scary it was! "
