Dining
Le Grand Quai - All the splendor of the Belle Epoque awaits diners here whether for breakfast, lunch, or dinner. The walls are enlivened by gentle trompe l'oeil rural scenes, heavy red and gold taffeta drapes hang voluptuously from the ceiling and all lit up by a grand chandelier. In summer tables are also set up outside on the cobbled square. Cuisine is mainly classical French.
Bar - This quiet low lit piano bar opens onto the right side of the lobby, separating it from the Le Grand Quai restaurant. Guests plunge into leather armchairs or perch on a bar stool, gently accompanied in the evening by a some melodious tinkling on the grand piano.
Le Bistropôle - Opened in May, 2004, this reaturant offers sandwiches and wines by the glass in a contemporary setting.
Recreation
Lake Geneva offers an impressive range of summer water sports options, including sailing, boating water-skiing, fishing, rowing, windsurfing, and even swimming. For those feeling less active, a variety of lake tours are also an option.
The recreational activities listed below are available either on site or near the hotel; fees may apply.

“Best hotel we've ever stayed in”
The Swissotel Metropole made our trip to Geneva perfect. Every single member of staff we spoke with during our stay was extremely friendly and spoke perfect English. We were even given free bus passes to use although we could pretty much walk to everything since the location was perfect. Our room was beautiful, the bathroom was spotless, and the restaurant food was delicious. Our view out onto the Lake and the Jet d'Eau fountain was breathtaking. We had such a wonderful stay, we wouldn't stay anywhere else in Geneva.
“Professional and Courteous Staff”
Professional & Courteous Staff. Relaxing Atmosphere. A very friendly and cozy place for a serious business traveler.
“Great Location, Great Hotel”
Near Geneva's old town, the flower clock and famous fountain. Great staff, incredibly accommodating and responsive.
“Top Class”
This is a fine hotel in every respect. Lovely situation on the lake. Staff efficient and friendly, highly professional. Not too big, not too small. Geneva has some high quality hotels and this is one of them.
“Very impressed”
My first stay and it was brilliant, great staff and beautiful room facing the back but the interior was superb!
“metropole”
Staff welcoming. Good location for shopping
“excellent”
classic but user friendly and perfect location

“great location”
Great European hotel with high level of service. The food is too expensive compared to the Geneve market, so eat at one of the many available restaurants in the area, and the beds are very hard. Ask for additional duvelts, they are like sleep on a stone bed. The hotel is very well managed and the concierge is very familiar with the local attractions.
“Very comfortable hotel in central Geneva”
My mother and I found this hotel in the center of the Geneva shopping district extremely accomodating. The service was excellent and my mother enjoyed having both Lake Geneva and the (very tony) shopping district so close, particularly since I had to leave her alone during the day while I attended business meetings. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone travelling for business or lesiure.

Rues Basses - Old Town, Geneva, Switzerland: A former slum, Rues Basses is now home to banks, jewellers, watchmakers, department stores, and designer boutiques. Shoppers not wanting quite the extravagance of Rue du Rhone (the main street) should head to neighbouring blocks that run parallel to the main street, which boast fine shopping with less stratospheric prices.
