“Las Palmas”
Recommended: nice old-fashioned hotel. The type of hotel which has a pianist playing on the terrace in the evenings.
“A 5* Experience”
Can't fault this hotel. treats you as a really welcome guest. The spa is spotless, well equipped and staffed. The breakfast buffet is a treat for the eye and the appetite. We loved it!!
“Lovely Hotel”
Really lovely hotel, only dissapointment was choice of places to eat nearby
“Beautiful facility with relaxed atmosphere”
The hotel was wonderful. We arrived early in the day, but our room was ready - a spacious double overlooking a beautiful park. The hotel had made arrangements for us to be met as we debarked from a cruise ship, and our driver took us on a full tour of Gran Canary for E220. Food in the restaurant on a comfortable veranda as well as bar service on the veranda were special.
“Great hotel for a sunny city break”
A hotel that really lived up to its own publicity. A fantastic location, mid way between old city and the beach/shops with the yacht marina and a small group of bars and eating places right opposite. Service was exactly what you would expect from such a hotel and it was a delight to be in a hotel with such a variety of guests, lots of nationalitiesm buiness, leisure, even an orchestra whilst we were there! Try a little Spanish and the staff really appreciate it - which is as it should be. The breakfast buffet was amazing - and set us up for the day. And a pre dinner drink on the terrace before a stroll into town a greta people watching location. We will certainly return
“Extremely pleased with the hotel and the service”
This is a great hotel! The staff is absolutely lovely and everyone is extremely helpful. Almost everyone at speaks English and my wife and I had no problems at all. The room service is superb and timely. Housekeeping was very kind enough to lend us an iron (with an ironing board) whenever we needed it. Whenever we'd get back to our room from a trip out, someone from housekeeping would always knock on the door and ask if all was in order, which we found very considerate. Foodwise, it's great again. Breakfast was fantastic, with a variety of cheeses and fruits and best of all - cakes! Don't forget to eat anything that is served with Ali Oli.......mmmmmmmmmm. Overall, the environment is very pleasant and one really feels that this hotel exuberates class. However, even though the hotel has been renovated, I still feel that it could've been much better, in the fact that it should not have mixed the 19th century with a few things from the mid 20th century. I can't explain it clearly, but that's just my opinion. The build quality should also reflect the late 1800s age. This doesn't mean that I wouldn't stay at this hotel again; I'll definitely opt for this hotel every time I make a trip to the Canaries.
“Return asap”
Las Palmas is a very big city, so finding the hotel is not easy. Opposite the Natical club. Nice bit old world charm and quality. Certainly the 5 star rating is spot on. Cant fault service or quality and the breakfast (free) fills you for the day.Very nice pool area with very large spa beneath and gym. Don't miss the park located at rear of hotel
“Very special hotel”
It's an old-fashioned grand hotel, but refurbished to modern standards. In spite of its 5-star rating it is not outrageously expensive, and has a nice, casual feel to it. It is in a great situation, with green space in front, a beautifully-kept public park, with cafe, behind, and the very interesting Pueblo Canaria to one side. There are bars and restaurants not too far away by the yacht harbour. It's some distance away from the old town and the main beach and shopping area, but the local buses are frequent and cheap. It was ideal for us, as we had a rented car, and used the hotel as a base for exploring the island.
“Great Classic Hotel”
Santa Catalina was a beautiful, classic hotel in Gran Canaria. We loved that it was different from some of the other hotels on the island--and very historic. Their spa was nice although it's a bit strange that you have to walk through the gym to get to the spa room. The jacuzzi and saunas are fantastic and overall, the hotel provided a great stay. The buffet breakfast that we had there was also a class act--tasty, beautifully presented and the times were very convenient. It ran pretty late.
“Viva Espana!!! Hotel Santa Catalina is the Best!!!!”
Europe at its finest!!!!!!!! Hotel Staff was superb!! Spoke English & Spanish. Very detailed orientated and not overbearing. Transportation at the ready outside the hotel (taxi's). Everything is nearby (shopping, beach, ect) Room service - food was amazing. Couldn't say enough about the entire experience!!! BTW - Casino no longer in hotel, didn't matter, we aren't gamblers. We're from NY and have experienced great hotels, Santa Catalina is a TRUE JEM!!!
