“Best for relaxing”
We arrived at this lovely hotel to be greeted by two smilling receptionists. I'd asked if I could have a look at our room before we actualy moved in, because I'm a very light sleeper. It was not very good for me, and when I told them they, straight away offered to change it for us. Lovely location, but you cannot walk to Haslemere. NO pavements! so you have to walk on the road!! Lovely walks through the grounds though. One evening we couldn't get a taxi. 2 minutes later we got a call telling us that a member of staff was going to take us into town. THAT'S SERVICE FOR YOU. Realy enjoyed our breakfast. Always plenty to eat and drink and again served with a big smile. Fantastic swimming pool/steam room and very clean changing rooms. The rooms are cleaned and the beds are made up EVERY DAY. Overall a realy fantastic place to stay. Only two things against it. Restaurant and treatments very expensive, in our opinion. We'll go back though. This is the place if you want to relax and do very little
“Even Surrey needs a secret...”
I'm the sort of person who expects great service, but get very animated and expressive about poor service.. But now it's my turn to get expressive about fantastic service, going the extra mile to accomodate our requests service! Service that not only comes with a smile it comes in a beautiful Tudor hotel, surrounded by garden cottages creating a wonderful self contained and very private exclusive village! More of a hidden resort hotel than just a faceless boutique hotel!! Go to this hotel, eat the food, use the spa, choose Tudor splendor or modern comfort in large, warm well appointed rooms I hope this review makes your mind up... because if you stay there you will be writting one exactly the same yourself! it's great, all the staff were so helpful, Nicky on reception showed us a number of free rooms so we could make this our perfect stay! Have fun!!!
“Mind your head!”
Very pleasant hotel in a great setting. The old part is 14th century I think, and our suite, the Anne of Cleves, was in that part. Very low ceilings! But nice to have the comfortable sitting room. Low shower over theclaw foot bath which resulted in the floor of the bathroom getting rather damp. As it was rather warm we requested a top sheet as the bed was made with only a duvet. We ate in the restaurant - very nice food.Breakfast was great the first couple of days but when more guests arrived was based around a hot as well as continental buffet with extremely rubbery scrambled eggs - however, we observed that others requested fried and poached. Bar quite expensive. Only criticism was that the wireless signal was not strong enough for us to download emails and the staff were not very helpful on resolving this. Finally one girl had a brain wave - go to the Conference Centre as lots of people seemed to use their laptops there.....
“Perfect Babymoon setting!”
We decided to extend our stay in the area (we were there for a wedding) and have a short 'Babymoon' before our first baby is born next month. The spa was the main draw and it didn't disappoint! I booked a 'Mother to be' massage and it was the best massage I have ever had. The added bonus was the quality of the food in the restaurant and the general setting & ambiance of the restaurant itself. All in all we have a wonderful time and would love to come back one day.
“Warm & relaxing weekend break away from it all.”
All the staff at Lythe Hill Hotel & Spa were pleasant, friendly and helpful from the moment we checked in. All the rooms are individually decorated but if you like history, old beams and character, ask for a room in the Tudor building. Nice to stroll on the lawn down to the lake and bump into some of the friendly ducks. You can also go for a walk onto ajoining National Trust land. Ask at reception for guidance. Breakfast buffet is varied and done well. Good coffee. Evening meal was delicious, well presented and good value.
“Great staff, food and Service with spa included”
We thought the standard, quality of food and service absolutely excellent. The spa is very well fitted out with sauna, steam room, pool and gym. The staff were very attentive and helpful as well as friendly. Both the set menu and a la carte menus in the hotel restaurant were first class. Worth pushing the boat out for the a la carte as you get an "amuse bouche" before the first course! Breakfast was briliant - we did not need to eat at lunchtime! Also, at my request, the chef cooked me two fried eggs. Downsides were the bed cover was a bit dirty - cigarette burns? Sound proofing not brilliant - we had people above us getting up early which meant we suffered creaking floors at 0630! But overall I would recommend the hotel as giving excellent value and well worth a return visit.
“Lovely relaxing weekend - website doesn't do it justice.”
I had a lovely weekend. There were lots of positive points and a few niggles - but overall for the price it was absolutely lovely. I can't wait to go again.
“Wedding Guest”
I stayed at this hotel due to a wedding I was attending and the hotel itself and the area the hotel stood in was amazing . However the one thing that severly let it down was the fact that at 9-20pm in the evening the bar had run out of draught lager ! The bar was woefully inadequate ill staffed and then after midnight if you were not stopping in the hotel you could not get a drink unless you had a room ! That said the restaurant was lovely the food good and the service there ok.I would book into this hotel again but only to try out all the facilities it had to offer has I had not time to use them
“general comments”
The restaurant meal in the evening was good. The breakfast disappointing, cold eggs and bacon, and the coffee and tea were dreadful. The room was comfortable but a bit dated, with door hinge on wardrobe broken, and the position of the flush handle was so close to the wall, there was staining/discolouration on the wall. The staff were very obliging and helpful overall.
“Not impressed”
Rooms ok but not the showers - low water pressure. Great staff, but dining room needs updating. Saturday night live music - so dated- we didn't stay long. Food good - great, but not attractive room for night. Kids in the pool so if you want a adult spa experience go somewhere else.
