We stayed in a two-bedroom apartment and overall had a really enjoyable and relaxing stay. The views across the golf course were beautiful and it really is somewhere you can unwind and slow down. Looking out over the open landscape was incredibly peaceful. My main disappointment was the cleaning. The communal area leading to the apartments didn't appear to have been cleaned when we arrived. I deliberately waited a couple of days to see if it would be attended to, but by the third day the same debris was still there, so I raised it with reception. The reception manager told me the communal areas were cleaned every day, but I pointed out that this clearly hadn't happened in our area. I felt it would have been better simply to acknowledge that it had been missed. To their credit, they reacted quickly and the area was cleaned shortly afterwards, for which I thanked them. I also noticed when using the cooker extractor that the buttons were greasy and sticky, suggesting they had not been thoroughly cleaned for some time. We had a small issue with the curtain rail too, but maintenance responded promptly and politely. Overall, we had a lovely, relaxing stay, but I do think management needs to pay closer attention to cleaning and carry out more thorough checks. First impressions count, and these relatively small details can make a significant difference to a guest's overall experience.

Locker room looked like it hasn’t been cleaned in a while, big cobwebs under a locker that were also there the day before. I brought this up with staff and was told they are cleaned daily 🤔

We stayed for one night. It wasn't great value for money! The room was scruffy and tired. The spa is very dated and various things were not working. The photos don't reflect the resort. The staff were all lovely especially the restaurant team. It was not what we expected which was a shame.

We stayed for 2 nights, guests for a wedding - The rooms got this were amazing, really flowed well. Wedding food and table service excellent. Stay was made extra magical by the level of service from all staff.. Rooms lovely and all the bars and restaurants were great .. Hotel is fabulous, would definitely stay again.

Upon arrival there had been a burst water pipe at the property. They swiftly upgraded us to a beautiful 2 bedroom apartment looking out to the golf course. This was spotlessly clean and very spacious with all amenities. The room was also very quiet. The pool area was clean and well maintained with towels and lockers provided. Overall a wonderful stay in a beautifully clean and well kept hotel with friendly and attentive staff.

Great stay but HOT! We've stayed at Old Thorns a few times but sadly I won't be staying again during summer. There is no air conditioning in the rooms and the fan provided (had to request it) was quite rubbish. Our room, apart from being hotter than the sun, was great though. Massive bed and lots of room around it. Had a few issues, such as the phone not working to enable us to request a fan, lack of fridge and very dusty/dirty up-lighters. We really enjoyed the pool area and being able to read a book on the loungers.

Upon arrival to the hotel we were immediately impressed by the grounds and the buildings. The car park is big so there is no worry about finding a space in which to park. The Reception staff were very friendly and checked us in without any issue. All staff were helpful and courteous in dealing with us during our stay. Our room was spacious, well equipped with tea /coffee making facilities, an iron and ironing board, hairdryer and a tower fan which came in useful during the warm nights. The bathroom was clean and tidy. There was a decent buffet breakfast with both hot and cold options, and the food was replenished frequently. We visited the Sports Bar for food and drinks whilst the Qatar v Switzerland game was on, service was friendly and fast. We enjoyed a carvery meal on the Sunday evening, again the food was hot, plentiful and delicious! We enjoyed a couple of drinks at the The Deers Hut pub which is about 5 minutes walk from the hotel. Great atmosphere there too. We made use of the swimming pool, which thankfully, was warm. Towels are provided so no need to bring your own. You can get locker keys by swapping your room card. Definitely a place to revisit.

The room was clean but the lack of air conditioning really let it down. Although we stayed in a particularly warm spell, I imagine that it would be pretty uncomfortable a lot of the time. It was difficult to sleep due to the heat. The staff were really friendly but not particularly efficient in the Sports Bar. Many people were queuing for quite some time to get a drink. The vegetarian options in the Sports Bar were extremely limited. The option picked was awful but a refund was given without any issues. The non-vegetarian choices made were ok but nothing special for the prices charged. It put us off dining in the restaurant. Breakfast was ok and could have been improved by different coffee options, more fresh fruit, and better quality pastries. Labels on items would have helped those with dietary issues/restrictions. All in all we did enjoy our stay but a few tweaks would have made it somewhere to return to.

Searched specifically for a hotel with a pool, turn up at the pool to find out that kids are only allowed in for 2 x 2 hour sessions. Only a fan in the room, no air conditioning, so no one slept well.

Spa was amazing, I had a back massage which was so nice. The rooms could do with a bit of a touch up as some of the decor is bit tired now. Also Air conditioning would be a benefit we did have a fan but the room was so hot.
