“Beautiful, historic guest house in Innsbruck”
This is a beautiful, historic guest house. Staff people are friendly and helpful. Everything was very clean. The bed was exceptionally comfortable. The location is within walking distance of many excellent restaurants and three important museums. I would recommend the Weisses Kreuz, Innsbruck to anyone. I would happily stay there again!
“This hotel was great!”
The hotel is located in the old part of Innsbruck; an area with shops, restaurants and other hotels. It's very quaint, and the Alps are a perfect backdrop. The hotel itself is from the 1400's and features dark wood beams and whitewashed walls. The elevator is tiny (as it is in many European hotels) and the room itself was smaller than an American hotel room, but it was a good size by comparison to other European hotel rooms. The bathroom was also a nice size. The room we were in featured twin beds (with down comforters and pillows) and a table with two benches that would have seated four comfortably. The room itself was super-clean, as was the bathroom, and the view out our window to the right was of the snow-capped Alps. That was nice to see first thing in the morning. The breakfast was fairly extensive, with home baked breads, a selection of meats, fruits, cheeses, spreads and soft-boiled eggs. Plus coffee and other drinks. The staff were polite and friendly. We did a tour of Italy, Austria, Germany and England, and this hotel was by far the most comfortable and pleasant, and it was actually the most inexpensive. I would wholeheartedly recommend the Weisses Kreuz to anyone traveling to Innsbruck.
“Cozy, convenient hotel”
This hotel had lots of charm and was incredibly convenient -- centrally located in Innsbruck's old town. There were several restaurants nearby - most of which had great outdoor cafe tables. There's also a McDonald's next door/downstairs if you must and an inexpensive "hotdog stand" if you need a quick snack. Of note, not all rooms come with a bathroom; select carefully when choosing as it's clearly noted on Expedia if you're paying attention. Our room had a separate bath and toilet area with the toilet in a small room on one side of the room and the sink and shower on the opposite side, which meant you had to go around the bed to the opposite side of the room to wash your hands. Both were rather small, but the shower area was very modern. The toilet area also had a low ceiling. My husband (who is 6') had to duck a bit to get in and it was a tight fit, and I felt like a bit of a giant at 5'2". It was perfectly fine for us, but worth noting in case others have special considerations. The breakfast was yummy--primarily breads, fruits and mueslix-type ingredients. There was also sliced meat and cheese, and raw eggs to boil, but beyond that not much protein (scrambled eggs, sausage, etc.) if you need that to get your day going. Overall a great experience, but a few points to note for those who might not travel much in Europe or stay in hotels within very old buildings much. For us, it was part of the charm and the international travel experience!
“Fantastic central location, historic character hotel”
We had a fantastic stay. Staff were very helpful and friendly and the location is just perfect for exploring the old town. You could see the golden roof from our 5th floor room (if you leaned out the window a little!). Our room was quite small but big enough and there was room for a cot, plus there was a large armchair, little table and a bath. I would definitely recommend this hotel.
“Surly late night security”
very pleasant hotel, centrally located with large clean rooms. If you are travelling by car be aware that the street is a pedestrian zone from 10h30 to about 18h00 (which makes access exciting as you struggle to find suitable nearby parrking). I found the ambiance excellent and the reception pleasant. We were advised that we could drop off the keys at reception when going out late, since there is 24 hour security cover. When my companions returned at 11 pm the security guard could not locate their key and accused them of having lost it and doubted whether they were bona fide guests. Rather than contact management he then woke me up to confirm their identities, then looked more attentively for the keys and located them after all. Not a good experience. Aside from that a pleasent wood-intensive hotel which is extremely well situated.
