“Very Impressive”
The staff at the hotel were topnotch! The room was like our room at home because it had a high ceiling. Also, it was well-stocked. The location was perfect! We frequented the lounge and the restaurant where the service was outstanding and the food and beverages were excellent! We highly recommend this hotel!
“Looking forward to returning!”
Firstly, the Expedia rating of 3.5 stars for the Aston Kauai Beach at Makaiwa is right on target. It's a beautiful hotel in an excellent location with breathtaking views! This hotel is just a few details away from being a true 4 star resort. Wireless internet, as opposed to DSL cable, would be a convenient touch. Also, the bedding and linens, although quite good, could be upgraded a bit. Admittedly, that's pretty nit picky though as this is truly a fabulous resort, close to the Coconut Marketplace and central Kapaa where there are many excellent restaurants. Near the airport (apprx 10 minute drive) and located on an amazing stretch of beach, I'm not sure it's possible to find a better value for all that you receive. I would highly recommend this resort to all friends and family! *Also, if you can spend a few bucks more, I would highly recommend staying in one of the "deluxe oceanfront" rooms. They're very roomy, with a large balcony, and a view that's almost overwhelming in its beauty!*
“Worth the trip”
Definitely a great hotel, but would not recommend for anyone planning on spending most of their time at the beach at their hotel. Not too much beach right in front of the hotel making it hard to swim or do any surfing. Staff is very friendly and made service is excellent. Location on the island is great and the food is pretty reasonably priced considering all local restaurants are pretty overpriced. If you get a chance to check out one of the sunrises or sunsets on the beach, it's worth it.
“Wonderful customer service! Anniversary free upgrade to ocean view!”
My husband and I had a wonderful experience at the Resortquest Kauai Beach at Makaiwa. From start to finish, we received stellar customer service- from the free upgrade from garden to ocean view room, to cocktail service at the bar. Room was tastefully updated and much better than the Islander on the Beach down the street. The only shortcomings (which were easily overlooked by my husband and I) were the small bathroom (a bit bigger than a cruise bathroom- toilet almost hit door) and the Hospitality Suite smelled a bit like midlew- possibly because it is only used as a Hospitality Suite....which I was still happy to have available. This hotel was in a great location and overall it helped make our trip memorable.
“Honeymoon.”
We stayed for 5 days and had a very pleasant experience. Clean, comfortable and centrally located. You can see the ocean and sunrise from most rooms. Beach is steps from the property. We were given a complimentary bottle of champagne for our honeymoon, very nice. Plenty of food options nearby. Gas is also cheapest near here. Yes, the 12 per day fee is kinda questionable. Just expect it and you will not be surprised.
“I'll be back”
Had a great time, the new remodel looks great. The hotel staff was very friendly. Hotel is centrally located, makes it easy to get to either end of the island. Nice beach, did some good whale watching.
“Loved it”
Very comfy Hotel for the money you pay, on the East side one of the best, big and clean. Came back from our trip on 01/22/12 all renovation are completed. Liked the pool area, beach is not friendly, however you can relax near the water without swimming. Liked the food in the restaurant). Highly recommend))))
“Really nice place to stay in Kauai”
I booked my stay at the Couryard by Marriott Kauai at the last minute, having decided to go to Hawaii on very short notice when airfare dipped considerably. The hotel rate fit my budget and the fact that they had a room available for me were my only real considerations at the time for booking my stay there. Upon arrival, however, I immediately realized how nice this hotel is. Having just been largely renovated, the hotel is perfectly clean and stylishly decorated throughout (the reception area, restaurant, lounge, pool area, etc.). The rooms are large, comfortable and, again, very nicely decorated. The hotel sits right on the beach in a very central location, making it ideal for visiting all parts of the island. The staff were all very nice and accomodating. All in all, just a very nice place to stay while visiting Kauai and I'd definitely stay there again.
“Outstanding”
The Hotel staff was very friendly and the hotel itself is clean and has a resort feel to it without the high resort prices. It's right on the beach and the view at sunrise is priceless.
“Aloha”
The hotel is at a super convenient location closed to most major grocery stores. The room cleanliness is super. Hotel staff is very nice and welcome with full of Aloha. We receive a free drink per person at the bar during our stay, very nice and clean lounge area. Wireless still not very stable, but again, why would you try to surf internet when you can enjoy all the beauty of nature. Super one!
