LTI - Pestana Grand Ocean Resort Hotel offers 177 guestrooms in a 7-story building with an Art Deco-style exterior. All have sitting areas and balconies are furnished with faux-wicker sun loungers and face either the ocean or neighboring apartment buildings.
Decor is light and contemporary with cream walls, neutral-coloured carpets, bold floral fabrics with coordinating upholstery, dark-wood furniture including desks and small tables, and black and tan marble bathrooms.
Amenities include in-room safes, televisions with international channels, coffee/tea makers, and bathrobes. Compact refrigerators contain complimentary bottled water and milk for coffee and tea on arrival, and can be stocked as minibars on request. Broadband Internet access (surcharge) is available in some rooms.
All guestrooms are nonsmoking.

Atrium Restaurant - Ocean-view restaurant. Open for à la carte lunch some days and theme-buffet dinner some days. Portuguese menu of meats and fish on some weekend nights.
Au Tagine - Fine-dining Moroccan restaurant with red-orange walls, blue columns and night-sky lighted ceiling dome. Pavement-style seating also available in separate air-conditioned area with garden and ocean views. Open on varying schedule for à la carte dinner only.

Cabo Girão - Informal air-conditioned Portuguese grill restaurant with light decor and floor-to-ceiling window offering pool-ocean views. Seating also available at poolside tables. Open on varying schedule for à la carte lunch and/or dinner. Portuguese menu of meats and fish on some weekend nights.
Pool Bar - Casual, open-air poolside spot with umbrella tables. Open mid-morning to early evening depending on weather, for sandwiches, desserts, ice cream, tropical drinks.
Coast Bar - Split-level contemporary lounge with blue-tile fountains and window-wall offering view of the garden and ocean. Wood dance floor. Live music six nights a week.
Recreation
Protected by a glass windscreen, the longest pool in Madeira extends 104 metres, in two sections, on the oceanfront side of the hotel. The pool contains saltwater. There is also a saltwater children's pool.
The hotel features a indoor-outdoor saltwater pool; the indoor section has jetted massage spouts with variable settings. Aerobics, pool aerobics, and yoga classes offered free of charge.
A security gate below the pool terraces offers direct access to the three-kilometre boardwalk promenade along the rugged oceanfront, which is popular for running and walking.
Formosa Beach is 700 metres west of the hotel, where independent operators offers a range of water sports during warm weather months. There are oceanfront saltwater swimming pools and a scuba diving centre at Lido, one kilometre east of the hotel.

“Good value”
A good luxury hotel with excellent facilities.
“Lovely hotel, room and breakfast second to none, didn't want to come home!”
I thought the Hotel Pestana Grand in Madeira was the best hotel we have stayed in. The staff were all pleasant and courteous and couldn't have been more helpful. On the last day we had a later flight, but the staff still allowed us to keep our car in the hotel parking even though we had technically checked out and allowed us to use the hotel facilities right up until the point we left the hotel. The only bit of a grumble was the meals that you can book in the hotel on an evening were quite expensive for the quality of the meals themselves, which were not particularly spectacular compared to an equivalent Italian meal at a local restaurant. Other than that we have no quibbles at all.
“Excellent hotel with good service and amenities”
This hotel was just what we were looking for; clean & quiet, with a good pool and gym/spa. The buffet breakfast was very good: we ate a couple of evening meals and they were fine, if a little expensive. The room was spacious and very comfortable, with a good view of the sea. The hotel's regular coach service to Funchal was very good.

“Impressive view & service”
We really enjoyed the hotel & facilities. Excellent beach view and amazing outdoor swimming pool. Staff were also kind and resourceful. The spa is also very good (although expensive) and the breakfast was excellent and with a wide variety.

Our first trip to Madeira & we loved it! Good hotel location - long walk into Funchal (45mins) but also plenty of shops and eateries near the hotel. Complimentary shuttle bus from the hotel to town mornings and late afternoon/early evening which helped. Hotel itself is elegant, spacious, very clean with a really comfortable bed and reclining basket weave balcony furniture. Lots of public seating areas and great swimming pools. Check in and check out couldn't have been easier and we even got a call the day before departure asking what time we were leaving and whether we needed our bags collecting as well as a complimentary bottle of bubbly on the first night! Who could ask for more? Even the weather was great apart from one day when the cloud descended.
“Would recommend to anybody, who is looking for comfort & relaxation”
Excellent service from the staff who were very helpful when our luggage got lost at the airport and for ordering taxis & general information. Breakfast Food was good, evening meals reasonable but expensive as were the drinks. Entertainment was relaxing and to a generally good standard although quite variable. Everywhere was very clean and comfortable.
“Second time just as good”
Once again the Pestana Grand proved itself the best hotel we've stayed in anywhere in our limited globetrotting experience. Fantastic location with the pools and leisure areas completely traffic free and surrounded by views of the Atlantic. Great rooms, great bars and restaurants (perhaps a little expensive but what do you expect of a five star?). Our only two minor grumbles were: i) we arrived late evening due to taking the scheduled TAP flight from Gatwick, wanted to eat and the reception suggested room service, all that was available on the menu were sandwiches and when we rang to order they'd run out of bread so we had to go hungry (breakfast was good the following morning though!); ii) they seem just a bit too keen to try and sell us a timeshare, although it is easy to avoid this. Only small grumbles, otherwise the hotel was utterly fantastic, amazing value for money (thanks Expedia!) and we will look forward to returning in the future. And I haven't even started on the magnificence of Madeira itself...
“Great staff”
Hotel has all the usual facilities associated with 5* rating. What sets it apart is the friendly staff. Every hotel I have stayed in has had a Mr. or Mrs. Grumpy. Not so the Grand. Without exception the staff were great and made our stay most enjoyable. Do visit O Regionale restaurant in the old town,food is good and the staff will have you in stitches all evening.
“One of the most attractive hotels in madeira”
Very clean hotel with friendly staff. From viewing other hotels whilst passing on excurtions the pestana grand look the most attractive. Advise selecting a sea view room 2nd floor upwards.
