“Don't be put off by only 2 stars”
Just come back from 5 nights at the Hotel Victoria and am so pleased we took a chance on a two star hotel. The locaton is perfect so central, the room was immaculate and the staff so friendly and helpful. We took the bus from Catania airport and walked from the bus terminal to the hotel. After being out late it was lovely just to have a short walk back to our hotel and not to have to rely on taxis. The room was immaculate, not a bad size with a small verandah and good sized en suite with everything you need. All the staff were very friendly including the ladies who did the cleaning and served breakfast to the front desk. They were all very willing to offer any help they could including running off train timetables for us and directing us to the nearest internet cafe. All in all this is an excellent, small hotel in a central location for Taormina and I would recommend it unreservedly.
“Ideal central location”
Situated on Corso Umberto, this hotel was central to shops, restaurants, and convenient for the local bus station and cable car down to the beach. The staff were very helpful and friendly and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay there. We said several times we were pleased with our choice and glad we didn't have to walk back at night to the more luxurious but out of town located hotels.
“Cute little hotel in a great location. Watched the street activity from our balcony. Great value!”
Hotel Victoria was basic and no fuss yet fantastic. The location was superb. Walk out the hotel and you are on the bustling main street. Room was clean and had a balcony overlooking main street. Noise was not an issue. Breakfast was great. Reception staff were very helpful and made great restaurant recommendations. Thoroughly enjoyed it.
“Great location in a great resort!”
This hotel was a great find - really well located in the centre of Taormina - but also very peaceful. Taormina & the surrounding area is really steep - so you can have lots of steps to contend with - but not here! Whilst there is no pool - there is just a 5 minute walk to the cable car to take you direct to the beach areas. It was a fairly basic hotel - but really enjoyable and had everything that was required.
“Great Position, Traditional, Friendly”
Our room looked over the main street (which is pedestrian) and had a tiny balcony with two chairs perfect for an evening glass of wine watching the world go by. Simply and traditionally furnished, tiny but perfect bathroom with toilet, shower, bidet, basin. The hotel staff were very friendly. We had requested a car parking space on booking and this had been kept for us for all our stay (extra). Perfect position to explore the town's delightful little streets and buildings and of course the Amphitheatre. We added an extra night to our stay. Very good glazing stopped street noise, but this was only motorised first thing in morning when deliveries and street cleaners buzzed about. We would stay again.
“Very friendly and a lovely place to stay”
The hotel was clean and tidy. The staff were very friendly and couldn't do enough for us. Breakfast was adequate, again the staff rapidly learnt what we liked and provided it for us efficiently and quickly. Location was excellent, you couldn't get more central. Despite this the soundproofing meant we were only ever disturbed at night once - and that was due to a wedding party returning in the small hours. All in all the hotel was a great base to explore the area, and we thoroughly enjoyed our 10 days.
“Great little hotel”
I would stay here again. Really convenient and staff were very helpful.
“Located in the heart of Taormina”
The location of this simple but perfectly formed family run hotel, is perfect. The "Corso Umberto 1" is the main "pedestrian only" street which runs the length of Taormina. It is the hub of the town and all shops, restaurants and sites can be accessed within minutes. We had a room to the front of the hotel, and although that meant we could hear the street noises; without cars it was quite relaxing. It had a small half balcony with a couple of chairs to sit and watch the world go by on the street below. And I really do mean the world, since the beauty of Taormina attracts many bus and cruise tours which deposit their cargo at the other end of town, so that they can walk throught the streets up to the fantastic greek theatre spending their tourist Dollars, Euros, Yen etc. We were woken by early morning noises of vans and dust carts on the street, but it was very low key, and added rather than detracted from our stay. The room was fitted with air conditioning and very good double glazing if the noise became a problem. The room was a good size and clean. The bathroom was fully formed but compact. Although I would not like to say it would be adequte for larger than average customers. The breakfast is Italian adequate, although it would have been nice to see some fruit. You don't need a car in Taormina, although we had to pay extra to park ours, in one of the two hotels reserved places on the street above.

Taormina, Italy: A balcony setting on Mount Tauro with a sweeping view of Sicilys coastline and Mount Etna gives Taormina its lasting appeal. It is Sicilys only truly international resort, much-favoured by celebrities. The old quarters steep, narrow alleys are filled with window boxes and painted pottery, and best explored on foot. Main sights are the classical remains and Renaissance palaces. The Greco-Roman theatre is still used for concerts and festivals.
